    About :

Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town in South Africa!

This is my 44th week (In a row!) contributing to "Three Tune Tuesday", an initiative started by @ablaze. It is week 109 overall!

In all of my TTT entries I like to play the songs on guitar as well as share the original videos... and I have a newish pattern for "Three Tune Tuesday" where I pick three songs by one of my favourite artists, that has inspired me - as I also write original songs.

This week I would like to pick Oasis, and especially their second album "(What's the Story) Morning Glory? from 1995" This was a tape cassette that always got played on roadtrips when I was a youngster. The Gallagher brothers actually sing quite high so wish me luck!

For the first song... I actually always thought that the album started with this song. Why? Because all my childhood we always started on this side of the tape cassette, meaning we played the second half of the album first and only got to the first half later! Hahaha! To be honest, I really love the slide guitar and how this song is built, and think it would have been a great opening song! It is called "Cast No Shadow". Here is the original version:

For the next song, well I've often thought that the intro piano sounds a bit like "Imagine" by John Lennon as it goes from Cmaj to Fmaj and back... but it gets into it's own story pretty quickly after that! It's "Don't Look Back in Anger". Here is the original version:

Finally, let's do the biggest Oasis hit of all "Wonderwall". This song is massively overplayed! However it is a fantastic guitar lesson as it taught me some important concepts many years ago:

    1. The "I want to play like Jimi Hendrix" strum pattern. (Err, that would be DOWN down down UP up down up down up down up). This is a strumming style I use quite often.

    2. Changing chords half way through that pattern (ie. on the UP)

    3. Pedalling notes - keeping the third and fourth fingers constantly on the same high notes so that they ring constantly while the deeper strings are undergoing chord changes. This is a beautiful way to make your guitar sound fuller in standard tuning. Pedalling notes are a big part of why some open tunings sound so nice as well.

    Here is the original version:

So that's week 109 done and dusted! I hope you enjoyed the songs from the Oasis "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" album! Which song was your favourite? Did I miss an important one to you? I am a bit sorry I didn't do "Champagne Supernova", as this was also a wonderful song. To be honest, this is one of the few albums that is good all the way through!

And so, which artist will I do three covers of next week, for TTT number 110? I hope you tune in to find out and thank you so much for clicking/watching/reading this time!!
