SONG REQUEST 50% HP Challenge Week 9! - Winner: @karelysk89 (Duet with @clairemobey)

Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town, South Africa!

I have decided to start a challenging series of posts! BUT I Need your Help!

This is the challenge I'm setting myself every week: I ask for cover song requests on the MUSIC community, and then pick a favourite song to learn and post a live video of me attempting it. The person who asked for the winning song then gets 50% of the post rewards in HP!

I have been holding onto this week's request for many weeks now, waiting until I finally got to see my friend @clairemobey again! She's the person that I usually perform in public with when I get the chance. We are both songwriters, and so we have a funny habit of singing covers with "cover hats" on, so that the audience knows when we are not wearing hats that the song is an original! We have carried that tradition over to our HIVE videos now!

This week's winner is @karelysk89, who asked for the iconic beautiful song "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls.

This is a song that is actually quite disappointing to play in standard tuning and to sing alone... it then becomes very difficult to carry across some of the things that make the song so special.

In the original, the band uses guitars in standard and alternate tunings, as well as a mandolin, to really have a broad spectrum of choppy strumming sound. My best bet for conveying that was to retune my guitar from EADGBE to DADGAD...

And then there is the energy of the vocal performance... I am really glad that I had @clairemobey there to help me by adding her energy and range to mine!
