Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Open Mic Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you Cape Town in South Africa!

Welcome to Week 176 of the Hive Open Mic Challenge. The theme for this week is the beautiful theme of “Gratitude”!

As coincidence would have it, a friend has asked me to sing a few songs at his Wedding on 2 September. I had never heard the song that he has planned for the “Daddy-Daughter” dance before – it is “Butterfly Kisses” by Bob Carlisle. Now, maybe it’s the fact that I have become a daddy to a beautiful 2-year-old girl myself, but there was something about this song that had tears welling up in my eyes! Which is rare!

The song describes Bob’s gratitude for the love of his daughter and being there for her every step of the way… the first verse describes a toddler stage, the second verse the Sweet 16 year old and the last verse describes the Daughter’s Wedding Day. With lines like “I thank God for all of the joy in my life but most of all… Butterfly Kisses…” and “For all that I’ve done wrong I must have done something right, to deserve her love every morning and butterfly kisses at night!”, it all sounds like the perfect fit for the theme of “Gratitude” this week!

¡Hola a todos en Hive y especialmente a la comunidad Hive Open Mic! ¡Mi nombre es Jasper y te escribo (y canto) en Ciudad del Cabo, Sudáfrica!

Bienvenido a la semana 176 del desafío Hive Open Mic. ¡El tema de esta semana es el hermoso tema de “Gratitud”!

Por casualidad, un amigo me pidió que cantara algunas canciones en su boda el 2 de septiembre. Nunca antes había escuchado la canción que planeó para el baile “Daddy-Daughter”: es “Butterfly Kisses” de Bob Carlisle. Ahora, tal vez sea el hecho de que yo mismo me convertí en papá de una hermosa niña de 2 años, ¡pero había algo en esta canción que hizo que se me llenaran los ojos de lágrimas! ¡Lo cual es raro!

La canción describe la gratitud de Bob por el amor de su hija y por estar ahí para ella en cada paso del camino... el primer verso describe la etapa de un niño pequeño, el segundo verso, los dulces 16 años y el último verso describe el día de la boda de la hija. Con líneas como “Doy gracias a Dios por toda la alegría de mi vida pero sobre todo… Besos de mariposa…” y “Por todo lo que he hecho mal, algo debo haber hecho bien, para merecer su amor cada mañana y sus besos de mariposa”. ¡Por la noche!”, ¡todo suena perfecto para el tema de “Gratitud” de esta semana!
