HIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL Week 9 Third Round (ENG-ESP): "Shotgun Wedding" (Original)

Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town, South Africa!

Welcome to Week 9 / Round 3 of the Hive Music Festival! Is this it, or is @edwardstobia going to give us another 3 weeks? I hope he does, as I still have some original songs left in the brain!!

After last week, where I was forced to sing from my car at the office parking lot, I am happy to be able to sing to you from the comfort of my own home again! My guitar is also back in standard tuning after spending the last two weeks talking about benefits of the alternative tuning DADGAD!!

What has not changed is my desire to rock with this 3-week grouping of Hive Music Festival songs by playing you another one of my more fun, upbeat original songs! @itzchemaya, you are always keen to hear a bit of blues – and this week’s song lies firmly in that genre, so I hope you enjoy it!

Today’s song is called “Shotgun Wedding”! It is a song that originated as a joke between myself and my then-girlfriend, now-wife Julia when she actually wrote the first two lines to remind us of the consequences of “not being safe”. The truth is my father-in-law is the sweetest, softest man who loves me as his own son, and he couldn’t be further from the imaginary Father-in-Law in the song, holding a shotgun to my head! Hahaha!

So, the song is supposed to be funny – I hope the lyrics translate into Spanish nicely where the humour is still obvious!! This is another one of those songs that I do actually play live to lighten the mood between the more serious songs. I don’t like my audience to be crying the whole night through – haha! I want my songs to have all the variety of life itself!

Después de la semana pasada, en la que me vi obligado a cantar desde mi coche en el aparcamiento de la oficina, ¡estoy feliz de poder volver a cantaros desde la comodidad de mi propia casa! Mi guitarra también está de vuelta en afinación estándar después de pasar las últimas dos semanas hablando de los beneficios de la afinación alternativa ¡¡¡DADGAD!!!

¡Lo que no ha cambiado es mi deseo de rockear con esta agrupación de 3 semanas de canciones del Hive Music Festival tocándoos otra de mis canciones originales más divertidas y optimistas! @itzchemaya, siempre te apetece escuchar un poco de blues - y la canción de esta semana se sitúa firmemente en ese género, ¡así que espero que la disfrutes!

La canción de hoy se llama "Shotgun Wedding". Es una canción que se originó como una broma entre mi entonces novia, ahora esposa Julia, y yo, cuando ella escribió las dos primeras líneas para recordarnos las consecuencias de "no estar seguros". La verdad es que mi suegro es el hombre más dulce y tierno que me quiere como a su propio hijo, y no podría estar más lejos del suegro imaginario de la canción, apuntándome a la cabeza con una escopeta. Jajaja.

Así que, la canción se supone que es divertida - ¡¡¡espero que la letra se traduzca bien al español donde el humor sigue siendo obvio!!! Esta es otra de esas canciones que toco en directo para aligerar el ambiente entre las canciones más serias. No quiero que mi público esté llorando toda la noche, ¡jaja! Quiero que mis canciones tengan toda la variedad de la vida misma.
