Mi trabajo como profesor de Canto.

Saludos a mis colegas de la comunidad de Music, aquí estoy una vez más presentando mi trabajo musical con mis estudiantes, en esta oportunidad voy a presentar un video que me enviaron recientemente de una presentación que tuve en Diciembre, formé un cuarteto vocal femenino y junto con mi hermano @kococuatro tocamos una canción venezolana muy famosa, la legendaria Moliendo Café.

La interpretamos en el marco del concierto de Fin de año del Centro de Investigación y Enseñanza de las Artes (Ciearts) que tuvo lugar en el conservatorio de música del estado Aragua.

Les digo que fue algo muy improvisado pero que salió bastante bien por haber tenido solamente 1 ensayo antes de presentarnos, además que la coreografía que hicieron las muchachas la prepararon ése mismo día, hacer este tipo de cosas de "hacer las cosas para último momento" es algo que no me gusta para nada, pero gracias a Dios todo salió bastante bien.

Un tema irónico que sucede con mis estudiantes de canto, es que desde mi percepción ellas cantan mucho mejor que yo, pero sin embargo vienen a ver clases conmigo, y eso se debe a que yo enseño más allá de la técnica, la parte interpretativa, lo poético, lo teatral son elementos que refuerzan el canto, y eso es lo que mayormente enseño.

Si bien "Moliendo Café" es una canción muy famosa no solo en Venezuela sino a nivel mundial, ciertamente pocas personas profundizan en la letra, y esto pasa con muchísimas canciones donde cantamos sin ser conscientes de que estamos diciendo realmente.

Cuando ensayamos este tema les pregunté a mis estudiantes cual era el significado de la letra, y noté que no habían prestado atención al trasfondo de la poética. Para cantar hay que saber no solamente de técnica, sino también del lado más importante de cualquier canción que es el aspecto poético.

Yo interpreto esta letra como el Relato de un negro esclavo, trabajando para un Blanco opresor, condenado durante toda su vida a servir sin tener la posibilidad de ejercer su voluntad, enamorado posiblemente de alguien a quien por razones culturales no puedo tener a su lado.

My work as a singing teacher.

Greetings to my colleagues in the Music community, here I am once again presenting my musical work with my students, this time I will present a video that was recently sent to me of a performance I had in December, I formed a female vocal quartet and together with my brother @kococuatro we played a very famous Venezuelan song, the legendary Moliendo Café.

We performed it as part of the End of the Year concert of the Center for Research and Teaching of the Arts (Ciearts) that took place at the music conservatory of Aragua state.

I tell you that it was something very improvised but it went quite well because we had only 1 rehearsal before presenting it, plus the choreography that the girls did was prepared that same day, doing this kind of thing of "doing things at the last minute" is something that I do not like at all, but thank God everything went quite well.

An ironic thing that happens with my singing students, is that from my perception they sing much better than me, but nevertheless they come to see classes with me, and that is because I teach more than technique, the interpretative part, the poetic, the theatrical are elements that reinforce the singing, and that is what I mostly teach.

Moliendo Café - Hugo Blanco. Deepening the meaning of a well known song.

While "Moliendo Café" is a very famous song not only in Venezuela but worldwide, certainly few people go deep into the lyrics, and this happens with many, many songs where we sing without being aware of what we are really saying.

When we rehearsed this song I asked my students what the meaning of the lyrics was, and I noticed that they had not paid attention to the background of the poetics. To sing you have to know not only about technique, but also about the most important side of any song, which is the poetic aspect.

I interpret these lyrics as the story of a black slave, working for an oppressive White man, condemned for his whole life to serve without having the possibility to exercise his will, possibly in love with someone whom for cultural reasons I cannot have by his side.
