Hace unos días mi abuelo estuvo cumpliendo sus 94 años de vida y aun con esa edad, sigue con mucho entusiasmo. Pero en la reunión familiar que tuvimos para celebrar sus 94 años, salió una conversación sobre los videojuegos y recordé que uno de los regalos que él me había ofrecido cuando era yo apenas un niño, fue una cinta de videojuegos. Y sí, fue esta que hoy les vengo a compartir y de esta forma, los invito a abrocharse los cinturones porque estamos a punto de despegar y dar otro gran paseo por el pasado de los videojuegos.

But at the family reunion we had to celebrate his 94th birthday, a conversation about video games came up and I remembered that one of the gifts he had given me when I was just a child was a video game tape. And yes, it was this one that I am here to share with you today and in this way, I invite you to fasten your seat belts because we are about to take off and take another great ride through the past of video games.}

Estos reptiles han sido amados desde su nacimiento por muchos y han abarcado numerosos títulos no solo en consolas como la Nes, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, la Super Nes hasta en series de televisores. Claro, no nos podemos olvidar de aquella clásica película de los 90 inspirada en estos héroes con caparazón donde su éxito siguió creciendo. Muchos de esos videojuegos llenaron nuestra infancia de mucha diversión, pero también nos dejaron una gran marca por la dificultad del mismo. Ninguno fue tan sencillo. Todos tenían su grado de dificultad aun con lo poco que se podría obtener con los 8bits. Por ejemplo, el primer título de la Nes era algo impreciso y podríamos fácilmente perdernos en el mapa que nos ofrecían.

^{These reptiles have been loved since their birth by many and have covered numerous titles not only in consoles like the Nes, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, Super Nes and even in TV series. Of course, we can't forget that classic 90's movie inspired by these shelled heroes where their success continued to grow. Many of those video games filled our childhood with a lot of fun, but they also left a big mark on us because of their difficulty. None of them were that easy. All of them had their degree of difficulty even with the little that could be obtained with the 8bits. For example, the first Nes title was somewhat imprecise and we could easily get lost in the map they offered us.}

Es extraño que con el éxito que tuvo desde su aparición en aquellas salas de diversión no gozan de algunos nuevos representantes del género que resalten. Sí, hay algunas consolas modernas como al Xbox Serie X donde encontramos ¨Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge¨ lo que es una recopilación para aquéllos amantes de estos héroes con caparazones. Una recopilación que a mí parece es una falta de respeto para aquello que, como yo, conocimos a estos grandes héroes en pleno apogeo. Creo que estos héroes tienen madera para que tengan un videojuego sucesor que si valga la pena. En mi opinión, Konami había logrado una increíble saga que hoy vemos desvanecerse.

^{It is strange that with the success it had since its appearance in those amusement arcades they do not enjoy some new representatives of the genre that stand out. Yes, there are some modern consoles like the Xbox X Series where we find ¨Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge¨ which is a compilation for those who love these heroes with shells. A compilation that to me seems disrespectful to those who, like me, knew these great heroes in their heyday. I think these heroes have the makings of a worthwhile successor game. In my opinion, Konami had achieved an incredible saga that today we see fading away.}

La mejor forma de disfrutar de este gran clásico de la Nes era con amigos, los gritos, las emociones, la adrenalina, eran momentos increíbles. Muy diferentes de jugarlo solo. Con la misma complicación del videojuego era más factible luchar acompañado que solo. Razón decía el maestro Splinter cuando decía que juntos serían invencibles.

^{The best way to enjoy this great classic of the Nes was with friends, the screams, the emotions, the adrenaline, were incredible moments. Very different from playing it alone. With the same complication of the videogame it was more feasible to fight accompanied than alone. Master Splinter was right when he said that together they would be invincible.}

En algunos títulos como en el de la Super Nes encontrábamos que nuestros héroes poseían combos de golpes que hacían el videojuego más entretenido. De hecho este título de la Super Nes fue uno de los que más me gustó ¨Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time¨ El juego ya no era aquel que teníamos en mente. Su grado de dificultad, los movimientos, trucos, entre más opciones que poseía el videojuego lo hacía aún mucho más agradable. Aquí es donde sigo insistiendo en que podríamos tener hoy otro increíble videojuego de estos grandes héroes, pero por alguna razón, no lo tenemos.

^{In some titles such as the Super Nes we found that our heroes had combos of blows that made the game more entertaining. In fact this Super Nes title was one of the ones I liked the most ¨Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time¨ The game was no longer the one we had in mind. Its degree of difficulty, the movements, tricks, among other options that the game had, made it even more enjoyable. This is where I keep insisting that we could have today another incredible video game of these great heroes, but for some reason, we don't have it.}

Esta manera de recordar y dar un paseo al pasado de los videojuegos me da la opción de disfrutar nuevamente de estos clásicos y eso le da un punto más de nostalgia cuando logro encontrar títulos como este que hoy les presento. Espero que haya sido de su agrado este corto pero nostálgico paseo.
