Hive Open Mic 140 : "The Sea" Nenek moyang ku seorang pelaut cover by @donirosayandi
Hi Hivers, how are you all? I'm sure we're all fine. My name is @donirosayandi, I'm a guitarist. On this occasion I will sing For the 140th week of Hive Open Mic, we will explore the following theme: "The Sea (Caribbean)." This theme is chosen by our community's recent Spotlight Artist: @thelooter
He is a singer, guitarist, and passionate about everything music, he always sings using his acoustic guitar. I really like his style of music
For this week's theme I have prepared a good song, a song related to the theme, namely the song called "My ancestors were sailors". This song is a children's song in my country, which was composed by Soed's mother, a Maestro who has created many children's songs.
When I saw this week's theme presented by @thelooter, the sea, I immediately thought of the song "My ancestors were sailors", because I have often heard this song even from my childhood, about the history of my ancestors, in Indonesia.
You need to know, Indonesia is an archipelagic country that has a lot of islands, this country has a number of islands that reach up to 17,508 islands. All of these islands stretch across various parts of Indonesia, from Sabang to Merauke. The link between these islands is the vast ocean.
Therefore Indonesia is an archipelagic country with the largest sea area in the world, I am very proud of that.
And it shows clearly that my ancestors were brave conquerors of the great seas.
One of the historical evidences is the relief of a sailing ship at Borobudur Temple. This large and magnificent sailing ship was founded in the 8th century, 1200 years ago by the Syailendra Kingdom. This ship sails regularly across the ocean, crashing into fierce storms through the Indian Ocean to Madagascar, South Africa to Ghana, West Africa to trade spices.
Other evidence is that in the 15th century AD, Sultan Alaudin Al-Mukamil of the Sultanate of Aceh had a fleet of warships of up to 100 ships. Uniquely, the fleet was led by a female admiral named Admiral Malahayati, who was famous for being great and brave in destroying Portugal, which at that time was one of the world's superpowers.
This song by Ibu Sud, composed by Ibu Sud, describes the ancestors of my country who were mighty sailors, they were able to sail the vast oceans, break through storms, and ride the waves bravely.
My ancestors were sailors
Love to sail the vast ocean
Crashing the waves without fear
Through the storm is common
The lyrics of this song clearly adopt the history of my ancestors hundreds of years ago when the maritime culture of the archipelago was still very victorious. So that anyone who hears this song will not forget that the ancestors of the Indonesian people were indeed superior sailors.
They traveled in their boats, conquering rivers and seas bravely, when the wind was blowing, the sails of the ships spread to the rhythm of the wind and they shouted, let's get up now! , Let's go to the sea together!
*Wind blows open sails
Waves crashing on the beach
Courageous youth rise now
We go to the sea together *
So, here's my interpretation for this week, with a song with the theme of the Sea, exactly what the open mic community has voiced this week, namely "the Sea (Carribean)".
Here's the link to the original song:
My ancestors were sailors
Love to sail the vast ocean
Crashing the waves without fear
Through the storm is common
The wind blows open sails
Waves crashing on the beach
Courageous youth rise now
We go to sea together.
Nenek moyangku orang pelaut
Gemar mengarung luas samudra
Menerjang ombak tiada takut
Menempuh badai sudah biasa
Angin bertiup layar terkembang
Ombak berdebur di tepi pantai
Pemuda berani bangkit sekarang
Ke laut kita beramai-ramai
Nenek moyangku orang pelaut
Gemar mengarung luas samudra
Menerjang ombak tiada takut
Menempuh badai sudah biasa
Angin bertiup layar terkembang
Ombak berdebur di tepi pantai
Pemuda berani bangkit sekarang
Ke laut kita beramai-ramai
