A recitation of poem ‘১৪০০ সাল’ (The year 1400) by Rabindranath Tagore

We have come to this world for a very short time and our lives are fleeting. Exactly 100 years from today the planet will be there but neither I nor you who are reading this article will no longer exist. The new generation will take our place. It is surprising to think about it but this is the reality. The underlying meaning of this poem which I am reciting today is very much in line with this thought. The name of the poem is ‘১৪০০ সাল’ (The year 1400) and it was written by the famous Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. The time mentioned here is the Bengali year. Here the poet says that after 100 years he will no longer be on this earth and someone else will come and write poetry in his place. The poet may have said the words in the terminology of lyric but if we think deeply, it is the ultimate truth. It is one of the popular poems of Rabindranath Tagore. There is a saying among the readers of Rabindranath Tagore that he knows everyone's sanity. Like everyone else, I believe in it. Because whenever I read his poems, it seems as if these are my own thoughts. This is a great achievement for a poet.
