One thing is for sure, the UK is never dull at the moment as we stumble from crisis to the next. Having mostly got Covid down to an acceptable level - although with no idea how the winter will change that. This week however the big news all week is a fuel crisis - not that the refineries are short of petrol or diesel - it’s lorry drivers to drive the tankers to the petrol stations that we are short of. The real problem though has been the general panic caused by a hint that there might be an issue - making people widespread head out to petrol stations to fill up before it ran out - causing of course for the supply to run out.

And it’s a week later now and not much better, now the seed of panic buying has been sowed as soon as a petrol station receives a delivery it’s swamped by drivers filling up. The knock on effect is of course it affects all sorts of things including deliveries of goods, healthcare workers, police etc.

It’s been business as usual at work though, keeping up the supply chain of coffee with busy roast days, including Tuesday a good 8 batches through the 30kg. Having won two Great Taste Awards for the Rwandan and Ethiopian coffee’s I entered, there is a good opportunity to promote off the back of them, and as our customer base keeps on growing we are busy every day just trying to keep up.

At home no rest either, with progress being made redecorating my boys room. Having emptied a walk in cupboard which was basically just full of toys and boxes, I fitted a ceiling light in that is motion sensing - it only lights up when it is dark and it senses movement - so when you open the door to go in the light comes on - and turns off when you leave. After some fresh paint on the walls and ceiling, two 150cm clothes rails on the back wall one above the other now make it a walk in wardrobe so the one in the room can be dissembled freeing up space. Once that wardrobe is down it will be time to start painting the room….
