And now for something completely different, as the long standing vlog takes a new outlook. April 12th not only brought about the start of release from Covid restrictions - with people now being allowed to eat and drink sat outside hospitality businesses - it also brought about a range of new laws around cars and driving - particularly regarding mobile phone use.

While it has been illegal for a long time now to hold your phone in your hand while driving, the new legislation restricts any use of a mobile even if it is in an car mount - so no touching to change playlists - even while static in traffic. While you can still take hands free calls, and use voice activation to make them - FaceTime calls appear to be on the list of not allowed activities and that really means recording a video will be as well. It’s still a grey area, but the new laws are backed by hefty fines and points - not something I fancy getting into.

So the vlog has a new look, I might do the occasional car one if I can park up off road somewhere with a nice view and do a static one - otherwise it will be in roast central alongside the 30kg roaster.

If the audio is a bit muffled, I’ll try and remember bluetooth earbuds with mic for next week - and I don’t really know if the camera is too far away.

As for the week, as you would expect busy as more business opens back up, with local customers returning so it’s been nice to get out and supply our local cafe’s, restaurants and pubs. Loads of roasting on both roasters of course, although favouring the 5kg this week because such a wide range of different origins to roast - and I always take care to keep the bulk roasts to origins that will move quick.

Weather wise it’s been very cold, with snow last Sunday and frost nearly every morning this week -3 degrees Celsius on Tuesday morning! But sunny in the day time, so heading in the right direction at least.
