Time to start another cycle of presentation of this stage of the Hive Music Festival. To get the ball rolling, I'm still clinging to the idea of playing boleros on the Venezuelan Cuatro. This one I remember from my childhood. Must be one of those melodies I listened to in a commercial. But don't ask me which one.

It's a famous bolero named Piel Canela by Puerto Rican composer Bobby Capó. There's an amazing version of this song by the group Los Panchos and that's the one I remember better. The one sung by the original composer is also great. I didn't know the guy had such an amazing voice. This lovely sung is one of those boleros that talk about love and what tragedy it will be to lose it. Piel Canela makes reference to a skin tone brown as cinnamon. And there's an array of lovely images about the loved one displayed in the verses, plus a very catchy repetition of how she's the only one that matters.

In all, a great song with a catchy rhythm and lyrics that invite to sing. I loved learned this one. Might be the bolero that sticks in my repertoire. And with that said, I hope you don't mind my cover is longer than usual, but I really liked the song.

Comenzamos otro ciclo de presntaciones sobre el escenario del Hive Music Festival con otro bolero. Este quedó pendiente del ciclo anterior. Tocar Boleros en el cuatro venezolano es un deleite. Este lo recuerdo de mi infancia. Hasta donde puedo recordar era parte de un comercial. No me pregunten cuál porque ahí sí me falla la memoria.

Es el bolero Piel Canela del compositor boricua Bobby Capó. Hay una versión increíble de esta canción interpretada por el grupo Los Panchos que es la que recuerdo con más claridad. Ahora, la del compositor es muy buena también. Creo que nunca la había escuchado hasta ahora. Su voz es tremenda. Esta canción es uno de esos boleros románticos que hablan sobre la belleza del ser amado y el dolor que provocaría perderle. Piel Canela hace referencia a un tono de piel oscuro como la canela. Esto se combina con imágenes sobre la belleza femenina y los versos se rematan con el coro que repite "me importas tú y tú y tú y nadie más que tú".

Es una canción muy pegajosa y que invita a cantar. Me encantó estudiarla para el cuatro solista. Quizá este bolero se quede en mi repertorio. No tengo más que agregar, espero disfruten de este cover y me disculpen haberlo hecho más largo de lo normal. Es que me gustó mucho el tema.
