Today I have to share with you that I am very afraid. I was looking at some notes for upcoming game updates. Which are not yet implemented but, when they do. I could restart my game again HAHAHA.
Still not that long to get to the final boss of Act 1, but I still can't help but trigger all my "Vietnam Traumas" with the game wipe theme.
In today's chapter, we went straight to "La Hedentina" a map that is normally full of abominations and different beasts. Which is a big deal, since our highwayman has a negative trait "Zoophobia" which, every time he starts a turn, he has a 50% chance to take stress damage. Quite complicated. But manageable thanks to the fact that we have a jester in our team, who is able to calm the others thanks to his music.
A feature of DD2 is that every time we find a crossroads. Decision making begins. You can't choose what you want, up to a point. Your team is the one who chooses.
The problem with all this is that depending on what each one thinks, they will begin to have internal fights or become friends. For example, if our Bandit wants to attack, but our plague doctor wants to run away, depending on who you pick, the other will get mad at the pick and so on.
Also, depending on a totally random system, sometimes you can get different perks, for example, the Leper uses his bravery and everyone is inspired to enter the fight, which gives them a damage bonus or any other status positive. Personally, I really like these mechanics.
In our adventures today, we found a bell. Which when touched, activate memories of the past of the characters.
Sometimes it's just pure lore and there's nothing to do, but other times like today. This activates different scenarios that must be won, in order to unlock the characters' abilities.
It is a very good way to show the history of the characters one by one and to improve them with new useful skills for battle.
How could it be otherwise, today we also fight against a Boss. Some kind of baby abomination.
To be honest, I thought it was going to be VERY difficult, and maybe it would have been, if we didn't have the item that makes all of our characters stay anchored to where they start the battle. They cannot move in any way.
So of course, it seems to me that the strength of this creature was to mix the members of your team, unbalancing any previous strategy you have. But hey, by counteracting that, the truth is that it even made me a little sad HAHAHA.
I just added this gif for the old connoisseurs of the Darkest Dungeon 1. Back in the day having a battle against spiders, it was really scary. Just one mark attack from the front spiders was more than enough for a character of ours to die in a single turn HAHAHA.
Memories of Vietnam coming back to my head. Luckily it seems that in 2, they removed that lethal mechanic. Or I didn't give the creatures time to do their thing HAHAHA.
Our last match was against the sectarians. Specifically against a Cult Boss.
In itself, our team is totally broken now. The improvements that we were adding throughout the taverns and in itself, the previous strategy when choosing those specific characters. They made everything work perfectly right now.
Similarly, you can never trust DD2, because when everything is going well. It could happen that a creature starts repeatedly casting an AoE destruct ability and it's some critical hits HAHAHA.
Luckily, that was not the case. But equally one can never underestimate his enemies.
