Un saludo amistoso queridos Hivers, es un placer para mi estar una vez más compartiendo con ustedes en Open mic. El tema de esta semana es “Traditional Music” esta propuesta me hizo pensar mucho sobre que canción traer para compartir y se me ocurrió una muy linda. Se trata de “VIENE LA MUERTE ECHANDO RASERO” una poesía campesina de San Luis de Potosi, que fue compuesta por Ascensión Aguilar Galván.

Yo la conocí gracias a la magnífica canción de una de mis cantantes favoritas Lila Downs, en su álbum Balas y Chocolate, publicado en el año 2015. Este álbum me lo regalo mi querida @jetta.amaya en el año 2016 como un lindo detalle por culminar mi diplomado en Cultura y comunicación popular, así que es algo que recuerdo con mucho cariño.

La canción es una maravilla, su letra es divertida y aterradora, nos conecta con nuestra vulnerabilidad y la fragilidad de nuestra existencia material. Decidí traerla como propuesta porque es cantada por lila en un género tradicional mexicano, además su letra es una poesía popular y tiene elementos que forman parte del imaginario cultural de México, como lo es la muerte.

La primera vez que Jeta y yo cantamos esta canción juntas, yo toque la guitarra vestida de Catrina. Siempre nos ha parecido admirable esta tradición ritual y nuestro sueño es poder ir un día a México y disfrutar de esta riqueza cultural en carne propia. En otra ocasión también pinte a jeta de Catrina, les comparto a continuación las fotos.

Friendly greetings dear Hivers, it is a pleasure for me to be once again sharing with you on Open mic. This week's theme is "Traditional Music" this proposal made me think a lot about what song to bring to share and I came up with a very nice one. It is "VIENE LA MUERTE ECHANDO RASERO" a peasant poetry from San Luis de Potosi, which was composed by Ascensión Aguilar Galván.

I knew it thanks to the magnificent song of one of my favorite singers Lila Downs, in her album Balas y Chocolate, published in 2015. This album was a gift from my dear @jetta.amaya in 2016 as a nice detail for completing my diploma in Popular Culture and Communication, so it is something I remember with great affection.

The song is wonderful, its lyrics are funny and scary, it connects us with our vulnerability and the fragility of our material existence. I decided to bring it as a proposal because it is sung by lila in a traditional Mexican genre, besides its lyrics are popular poetry and have elements that are part of the cultural imaginary of Mexico, such as death.

The first time Jeta and I sang this song together, I played the guitar dressed as Catrina. We have always admired this ritual tradition and our dream is to be able to go to Mexico one day and enjoy this cultural richness in the flesh.
