Snapie Radio is almost here! by @meno on 3Speak
▶️ Watch on 3Speak --- I could use some feedback from the community on this. That said, as it is right now, we could have this deployed before the day ends. I'm going to talk to @eddiespino about i...

All right, guys, hello friends. I want to show you what I've been working on as of late. I made a post about this yesterday or day before yesterday, I don't know. I haven't slept that well, to be honest. But it is my, I think my newest little project that has me the most excited, which is the Hangouts, and right now having the ability to add music to the Hangout so that you could have a listening party, or maybe if you're hosting a show and you want to, you know, people are waiting, maybe you can play some music in the background, that kind of stuff. and I am kind of cheating because we don't have to overcomplicate things, we don't have to reinvent the wheel, I am kind of cheating without doing anything that is shady, so I freaking love it. So, anyways, this is how it works. As you might know, you can already go to Snappy I.O. and create a Hangout, and obviously, use it right now. There's already live, it's good to go, but if you have Snappy on Android, you could also create a Hangout. But for this example, I'm going to be using Snappy I.O. So you'll see exactly what I'm doing and how you can do it as well. The DJ console I'm about to show you. It's not live as of right now, but it will be hopefully within a few hours. I need to talk to Eddie so we can decide where we're going to host it. But it's going to run client side, so it's not going to be really a big deal where we put it. We just have to agree where to put it. Anyways. Right now I created this room, I created this room using my Snappy account and anybody could join. Right now, if you wanted to, if you were on the Snappy I.O, you could join, or on the Android app, you could join this chat. So obviously in here, I'm going to log in, it is, okay, it's telling me about the camera, but it doesn't matter, because I am just a listener. Currently, you only see Snappy, so nobody else is there. There's no bot, there's no DJ. This is running on my computer right now, and I have an account that I created for this purpose. It's called Snappy Radio, of course, because that makes sense. I'm going to connect with Keychain, and boom, I am in. And then I can pick a room of where I want to put my Snappy Radio. So in this case, of course, Snappy Radio, there's two people there, and I go live. This is going to make the bot join that room. So let's go over here and you will see that the little bot is here. Obviously, at this point, you need to put the bot as a speaker, because right now if it starts making noise, nothing's going to happen. So I have Snappy right here, so invite to speak, and there you go. If you are the owner of the room, obviously you can move people in and out of being a speaker, so that's very simple. and now I have snappy radio as a speaker. So what do I do? How do I play music? Very simple. The bot is already in the chat, so here I have a very simple to use playlist that I can add music to. And how do I add music? I grab songs that I like, songs that I think are going to be cool, and I just begin adding them there. I could add also playlists if I wanted to. So I'm going to go ahead and add, this is a song that I wrote many, many years ago. And I'm going to go ahead and play it. And that's it, it's playing. So, this tab, as you can see up here, is the one playing the song. And anybody who is a listener now can have room. You have owners, okay? Can enjoy the trailer. And, of course, we have volume controls. and whatnot, add other songs, skip, all that good stuff. So, I don't know, guys, I think this is really freaking awesome. I think it has amazing potential for people to kind of create their own little shows. Obviously, if you're a host, you could record the show. I'm not going to tell you record music from YouTube or from SoundCloud and put it on Tris Peak. That's not the idea. But if you're having a, doing a podcast and you want to have some waiting music or maybe... you just want to record something for yourself. That's something that you could do. Anyways, I'm excited about this. Leave me a comment. Let me know what else do you think the minimum viable product, the MVP, for the console needs. I think volume and skipping and stop and all that is pretty much it, but maybe I'm missing something. I'm not a DJ. Maybe I'm missing something that people need, and it's something I can add when we actually launch. All right, that's it for me. I hope you guys are excited as I am.

@chinito: sounds very cool. :) a speaker bot!
@katerinaramm: Love the idea, I am not sure if I understood correctly how the user will be able to call the snapie radio in their hangouts. I guess i will wait for it to be published and then try it out :)
@encuentro: A pesar Que no entiendo inglés me pareció interesante la palabra radio y según veo en el video está en periodo de prueba una especie de radio en la aplicación snap esto sería muy bueno sigue adelante con el proyecto voy a intentar probar Even though I don't understand English, I found the word "radio" interesting, and from what I can see in the video, there's a kind of radio feature in the Snap app that's currently in the testing phase. That would be great—keep working on the project; I'm going to try it out.
