Stickit: Sticky Notes, but make them Hive Powered by @meno on 3Speak

In my mission to both make useful tools and get the name of our dear blockchain out there, I began building something that at first glance might not look too impressive. But that's only if you only...

All right, so I want to show you guys something that I've been working on. I think it's something pretty cool. I have a few different devices that I use. Obviously, most of the time I'm on my phone, like everybody else. But I have a desktop, which is the one I'm currently using right now with Amarchi. I have a Mac computer that my brother loaned me that I'm using also for development. And I also have an old HP. that with Linux Mint has been my main computer for a while now. So one of the things that I have to do a lot, which is annoying, is pass either maybe like a key or maybe like a reminder of something from one computer to the other. And not to sound paranoid, but sometimes I just don't feel like sending myself emails. You can. Obviously, I can go from Google Drive and write stuff down. but it's just not as convenient, and I don't own the info. I could get banned for anything, right? I've gotten banned from YouTube before, so why not? So, I was thinking, how can I leverage Hive to do something like this? So, obviously, the main idea was, hey, I could store my notes, the notes that I keep on my Linux Mint, but instead of... storing them on the hard drive alone, I can back them up onto Hive, and then I can have a way that I can access the notes from different devices. So, and even write new notes, and everything would be in sync. More or less, like Apple does it, but not tied into any company. So the whole thing is decentralized. And that's how I came up with this. I'm calling it Stick-It Notes. It is already published in Omarci. If you have Omarci, you can... you can find this in the plugin store, but I made it a point to make these work with Mac Linux, and it should work in all distros, and as soon as I get around to installing Windows on a computer again, I can make sure that it works on Windows. But it's really simple, just a Node app. So the way it works is I would write a new note. Let's say I'm going to write here a note saying, hello, this is a note. demoing my little app, and then here is a secret. Nobody should know. Done. Now this is obviously only on my computer right now, but I can go ahead and back it up to Hive and sync it. I can also set this automatic if I wanted, and now that note exists. on Hive. Now, I know what you might be thinking, you're like, well, but that's crazy because everybody's going to be able to read your notes. What if you're writing something sensitive? And, of course, yeah, you wouldn't want that to happen. By the way, I already fixed this. This is a CSS tissue. It's already fixed. You want to want that to happen, but it's already fixed. The way that it works is everything that I write here is secured by the vault. So first of all, all my notes are only accessible if I type in my password, but this password is also used for encrypting, and everything is posted on Hive via encryption. So my account name on Hive is Meno Notes. You will see very much in the same style that we all learn from using snaps. You will see a container for Meno Notes and a bunch of gibberish underneath. that has been encrypted with my vault key and my posting key. Can it be hacked, I guess, but in the same way that your keys can be hacked. It's very unlikely, unless quantum computers take over. So yeah, it is that simple. I'm going to see if I can show you guys, also, and I'll add it to the end of this video, how you can access it through the phone. you'll see how simple it is to look at your notes and add, edit, and basically have all your devices carry all this information. So what would you want to store in here? In my opinion, what I would use this the most would be for, like, giving myself maybe like an SSH key that I want to pass to another computer real quick, and I don't want to send it to an email. or maybe just a quick reminder of something I'd do later on. Maybe you can make a shopping list on here, and then just sync it, and then when I go into town, I can just look it up here. Yeah, I can WhatsApp myself. That's what I normally do now, but now I have an option, and I own the whole process. I think it's pretty cool.

@ds-tech: This is very cool. A way that I used to do this was through Owncloud/Nextcloud which was hosted on a Raspberry Pi. They had a dedicated plug in for this, and an app called QOwn Notes. But I also have an app called Notes Up that stores all of your notes as single database file, and so if you keep that database in a Nextcloud, Google Drive, etc it's just that single file being updated. There are risks too of course because if it gets wiped on one computer it will get wiped on others, but you could do a cron job duplicate of it as well.

@steevc: This is cool. There are a few things just using Hive for data storage. I guess we don't want to get too crazy with that, but you probably write more comments than you do notes.

@seckorama: Nice, you open a new market for various Hive tools with that app.

@tibfox: This is something I really needed for a long time! Syncing notes is not new but having them not stored on a system by a big tech corpo or some random guy is gold! Great job ❤️‍🔥 replied to 5:07 on 3speak.tv

@abeja-de-miel: Getting ready to use it now! Appreciate all your hard work on 3Speak, Snapie, FC First Context as well as all the other things you create and assist others with seeing to fruition. In the words of my people: iWepa!

@cositav: Interesting. I created a new account a few days ago for learning purposes. It will be a pleasure to use this tool there when it's available in the Chrome browser.

@justicej: Hey that's interesting I will love to try it

@bozz: That's pretty cool. I am a hardcore Google Keep fan, though, so it would be difficult for me to switch!

We are the truth they cannot hide. We are the voices they cannot silence. We are the builders they cannot stop. We are Bilpcoin. We are Blurt. We are Steemit. We are the community of the awake. Today, and every day after, we declare: The truth is on the blockchain. The blockchain does not lie. We will not be silenced. We will not look away. We will build the alternative. @bpcvoter1: BILPCOIN BPC TRUTH The Arithmetic of Integrity Integrity is not a feeling. It is a calculation. It is the alignment between what you claim and what you do, measured against the immutable record of your actions. When the arithmetic does not balance, no amount of rhetoric can restore the equation. The ledger demands honesty, and it accepts nothing less. The Mirror Look into the mirror of the blockchain. What do you see? Not the face the whales have painted for you. Not the narrative spun by those who profit from your silence. But the raw, unfiltered reflection of what has actually happened on this network. Every transaction. Every delegation. Every downvote cast in malice. Every reward farmed through coordination. It is all there, waiting for you to see it. Today, choose to look. The Builders We Are the Ones We Have Been Waiting For No one is coming to fix this. No regulator. No whistleblower. @nicklewis: Great idea and also goes to show that Hive can be used for potentially many things, not just one or two.

@wrestlingdesires: This is a great idea :) Does it post the notes to a blog, or is it more like the blockchain data for staking, trades, etc?

@alfasuenos: This is such a brilliant concept. Using Hive as the backend for a sticky notes app with device synchronicity is pure genius—no traditional servers needed, just pure blockchain power. As someone who loves efficient tools, I really appreciate seeing developers build things like this for our ecosystem. Keep up the awesome work! Greetings from the @alfasuenos team! replied to 2:27 on 3speak.tv
