@irivers: A problem in the United States is that people were taught that dietary fat was the cause of obeseity. So doctors were telling people to cut whole fats from the diet. We were told not to eat eggs, whole milk, chicken skin, the fatty part of beef, etc.. We were told to eat high carb diets with a lot of bread, skim milk, etc.. People developed diets with a large amoung of sugar and carbs. The dietary advice was wrong. So, she is coming off several decades of doctors giving really bad dietary advice that was causing problems and causing neurosis.
