HIVE OPEN MIC #182 (ENG/ESP): Folk & Symphonic Metal - "My Immortal" by Evanescence!

Welcome to Week 182 of the Hive Open Mic Challenge. The theme for this week is the is “Folk & Symphonic Metal”!

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve decided to alter my Three Tune Tuesday posts to be based around the Hive Open Mic theme of the week, and how I would go about tackling it. “Folk AND Symphonic Metal” rather than “Folk OR Symphonic Metal”?… That’s a pretty challenging theme!
What exactly is Symphonic Metal? Well according to the ever trust-worthy source (ahem… Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphonic_metal ), Metal music with some symphonic elements to it, like a full orchestra backing up the typical heavy metal instruments.

When I looked at Wikipedia’s list of Symphonic Metal bands (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_symphonic_metal_bands ), the one I really remember well is the band Evanescence, who went mainstream when I was young with the song “Bring Me Back to Life”. Still, that’s more like Symphonic Metal mixed with rap I suppose… BUT, their other big hit song I still remember clearly is much more like a folky piano ballad. It is called “My Immortal”, and will be perfect for this week, especially as the rest of the band and even symphonic metal instruments kick in at about the 3 minute mark to add some climax to the last chorus and take the song home! ¿“Folk Y Metal Sinfónico” en lugar de “Folk O Metal Sinfónico”?… ¡Ese es un tema bastante desafiante!
¿Qué es exactamente el Metal Sinfónico? Bueno, según la fuente siempre confiable (ejem… Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphonic_metal), música metal con algunos elementos sinfónicos, como una orquesta completa respaldando los instrumentos típicos del heavy metal.

Cuando miré la lista de bandas de Metal Sinfónico de Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_symphonic_metal_bands), la que realmente recuerdo bien es la banda Evanescent, que se hizo popular cuando yo era joven con la canción “Bring Me De vuelta a la vida”. Aún así, supongo que es más como metal sinfónico mezclado con rap... PERO, su otra canción de gran éxito que todavía recuerdo claramente es mucho más como una balada de piano folk. Se llama “My Immortal” y será perfecto para esta semana, especialmente porque el resto de la banda e incluso los instrumentos de metal sinfónico comienzan a tocar alrededor de los 3 minutos para agregar algo de clímax al último estribillo y ¡llevarse la canción a casa! ¡Mira el video original para ver a qué me refiero y disfruta de la increíble voz del vocalista!
