Hi there Hive Family,
It was about time I tried the very popular Wim Hof Method during winter times and it is always fun when you do it with friends. So we decided that we will do it today!
It was the late afternoon around 15 o'clock. I picked up @titofit and we headed to a region in Vitosha mountain called Golden Bridges.
The temperature in the city was mild and the snow had already melted a lot in most parts. However, the mountain had plenty of it. And we were going to vicinities of 1500 meters high. It was snowing and the upper areas were not cleaned of the snow so we also had big challenges just getting to the place. The road was getting icier and icier the higher we drove. I started to think, okay it looks like the driving is more challenging than the icy dip 😆
Though I should not be underestimating what we are about to do. Cease the moment and pause. Breathe and feel the wonder called Life. Just amazing sweatshirt by my Friend @titofit.
This is a very serious undertaking. The river was inside a big area covered in snow. We had to first trample a trail so that we can then move barefoot or with flip flops.
Easier said than done of course but luckily I was prepared with winter boots and it was no problem for me to create a trail without making my feet wet.
The weather became very cold. It started snowing as we were praparing to take off our clothes. Yet mother nature is amazing. Beautiful and untouched.
This is the basin area where we are going to take the cold dips. 2 people tops at a time. We gathered 5 people or should I say 5 machines in total.
We created the pathway to cold heaven. Time for action!
We returned to the cars. Put on our bathing shorts, took towels and started to warm up and adapt to the cold temperature. Squats and claps did very good to prepare us. We also did a couple rounds of Wim Hof Breathing to calm our nervous system and further ease our way into the cold.
We walked from the road all the way through the trail and into the river. It was freezing cold during the first 20 seconds but then you learn to ease into it. Just relax, calm down. Slow your breathing, shallow and really calm breathing. Pure feeling with no anxiety or fear. You stop feeling the cold for a little while. At some point you begin to freeze. It is time get out of the water.
In a nutshell. My Friend Tony got off at 30 seconds, I got off at 1 minute, @titofit stayed for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Joro endured 2 minutes. And the champion Veso relaxed in the nature SPA for more than 5 minutes straight.
We filmed the entire process. We took the moment! The aftermath was a burning body. I no longer felt any cold. I was actually so warm, I did not need clothes to wear after walking out of the river. The only cumbersome moment was that our extremities got frozen really quick, hence the limited time that we could spend inside waters. The body itself could hold on forever.
We were full of energy and felt like feathers. Very light and flexible. Also it looks like our muscles got more defined. I guess because of the shrinkage.
