Tele Tuesday: Tuesday is also Bluesday

As with many guitarists I mess around with blues as it is a simple form with lots of potential for soloing. I just want to get better at it with some more original licks.

I have done various lessons from Master Guitar Accademy that is run by Robert Renman and I have bought some of his stuff. I think it has been around before, but I got a series of emails from him about a course on soloing over backing tracks. I am going to make an effort to work through it. He supplies a set of backing track tracks in very different styles, but I am just working with the blues one (called Double Perspective). He talks about using the standard blues scale of course, but also the triads of the different chords which can include notes outside that scale. This means keeping track of which chord is playing. That is what I was focussing on for this video.

This is practice rather than a real performance. I worked out some licks before I started and tried ot work them in at appropriate points. I did not always get it right, but mostly avoided notes that sounded really out of place. I need to work more on learning where the chord tones fall on the neck so I can go straight to them.

Anyway, I hope the music brings someone some joy and maybe inspires them to play some guitar.
