Hoy quise pasarme a mostrarles un poco de lo que en realidad me gusta hacer, que es la música, el arte,lo grandioso de tocar un instrumento de tan solo 4 cuerdas, mejor conocido como el cuatro Venezolano.

Today I wanted to stop by to show you a little of what I really like to do, which is music, art, the greatness of playing an instrument with only 4 strings, better known as the Venezuelan cuatro.

El cuatro Venezolano, o simplemente cuatro, es un instrumento de cuerda pulsada que posees cuatro órdenes afinadas a razón de La, Re, Fa#.

The Venezuelan Cuatro, or simply Cuatro, is a plucked string instrument that has four orders tuned at the rate of A, Re, F #.

Amigos y amigas, el cuatro es un instrumento típico y el más emblemático del joropo. Se utiliza en tanto en áreas rurales como urbanas y les comento que sus cuerdas de nylon producen un hermoso sonido,melancólico pero sobrio es increíble su sonido.

Friends, the cuatro is a typical instrument and the most emblematic of the joropo. It is used in both rural and urban areas and I comment that its nylon strings produce a beautiful sound, melancholic but sober, its sound is incredible.

En Venezuela se ejecuta casi en la totalidad de los géneros musicales como : La gaita zuliana, el calipso de el Callao, los villancicos, los aguinaldos, la parranda, el galerón, el polo, la jota la malagueña, el vals, el merengue, la música caroreña, la música campesina, el paso doble, la fulia, la tonada, la polca, el ritmo orquídea, el emblemático joropo de cuatro, arpa y maracas, entre otros.

Les comento que En el año 2013 el cuatro fue declarado por el Ministerio de la Cultura como Bien de Interés Cultural de la Nación.

¡La Navidad en Venezuela es una de las más coloridas de América Latina y del mundo entero! Los espectáculos de fuegos artificiales son muy populares.

Parte de la música tradicional navideña en Venezuela es la música 'Gaita'. Este es un tipo de música folclórica del estado Zulia. Se toca con varios instrumentos, incluido el 'Cuatro' (una guitarra de cuatro cuerdas), la 'Tambora' (un tambor venezolano) etc.

Christmas in Venezuela is one of the most colorful in Latin America and the whole world! Fireworks displays are very popular.

clavijero/Pegbox
Esta es la cabeza del instrumento donde se tensan las cuerdas. Hay varios estilos de clavijero y muchos luthieres aprovechan para dar su toque personal allí con una figura bastante particular.

This is the head of the instrument where the strings are tightened. There are several styles of headstock and many luthiers take the opportunity to give their personal touch there with a very particular figure.

Clavijas/Pegs
Son las perillas que se utilizan para afinar cada cuerda. Girando las clavijas es posible hacer que las cuerdas tengan un sonido más agudo o más grave. ¡Te cuidado de no apretar demasiado ya que se pueden romper!

They are the knobs that are used to tune each string. By turning the pegs it is possible to make the strings sound higher or lower. Be careful not to over-tighten as they can break!

Cuerdas/Strings
Son las responsables de producir el sonido y normalmente son de color negro y de un grosor mucho menor al de las cuerdas de una guitarra.

Diapasón/Diapason
Es el área donde se encuentran los trastes y es aquí donde presionas las cuerdas para poder marcar un acorde.

Trastes/Frets
Son las pequeñas piezas metálicas que separan el diapasón. Cada traste representa un semitono y es el lugar donde la cuerda producirá su sonido.

Boca/Mouth*
Es el agujero donde se produce el sonido cuando pulsas una cuerda.

Puente/Bridge
Es la sección inferior del cuatro donde se anclan las cuerdas. Al cambiar las cuerdas deberas desatarlas del puente y amarrar las nuevas a él.

It is the bottom section of the cuatro where the strings are anchored. When changing the strings you must untie them from the bridge and tie the new ones to it.
