Hello Afri-tunes community, it's week 19 and as always I'm super excited to share my entry this week. I trust we all doing good, For this week I'd be covering a song by Nigerian-French singer, songwriter and recording artist Ásà called "Bibanke".
Bibánke is a yoruba word which means when I cry in English, the song is a dirge for love lost,
a cliché tale of the natural death that love experiences when one of the two parties in a relationship senses danger signals early on in a relationship, but continues to fall deeper into the hole, until they suddenly hit rock bottom. Sorrow is inevitable in the end. I do hope you enjoy my cover of this beautiful record. Have a great week ahead y'all 🤍 & 💡.
LYRICS
I wake up I see you
As you leave
I feel it, I see it
As you leave
When we kiss I want deep
But you're far away
Bi ban ké bo bi ban shun
Fi mi si le
Bi' ban ké bo jo ba n ro
Fi mi si le
He used to be my everything
Treated me like I was a queen
What spell did u cast on me?
Or is it a make believe?
You say girl never be afraid
Of ever ever loving me
Those words I hung on to
Oh God I was a fool
You became my bad habit
Keeping up appearances
So you could notice
Even when you suddenly
Picked your things and left the keys
That's crazy
Bi' ban ké bo ban shun
Fi mi si le
Bi' ban ké bo jo ba n ro
Fi mi si le
Bim ban ke o o o o
Ko kun ba si a
Fi mi si le
Bi ban ke o o o o
Ko kun basia
Ko kun basia
Bi ban ke o o o o
Ko kun basia
Ko kun basia
Mo ti foro mi fo lu wa
Ko sho, ko sho wa
Mo ti foro mi fo lu wa
Ko sho, ko sho wa
Iwo iwo nikan soso [repeats]
When I'm crying
When I'm dying
Just leave me alone
I could cry a river
Or a waterfall
Just leave me alone
Leave me alone
I could cry a river
