    About :

If you've had a stressful day, this will make it all better.
If you just want to enjoy an amazing chilled track, this is it.
If you'd like to go on a musical journey through the minds of these incredible musicians, please sit back and enjoy this brand new release by Tom Misch and Yussef Dayes; it is absolute gold!

    Tom Misch
Tom Misch is a Musician & Producer from Southeast London who started playing the violin at the age of 5. He later joined the choir in school and after that, enrolled in a music technology course, where he developed the skills to make beats in his bedroom and uploaded them to SoundCloud. He's been inspired by the likes of Slum Village, J Dilla and De La Soul. His style developed into what it is today: a sonic fusion of jazz, hip hop and soul with retro fonts and faded film (does that make sense?)

I only know Tom Misch from his interviews, but he comes off as an incredibly grounded human being who just happens to developed great taste and an incredibly refreshing philosophy in music. The fact that he's collaborated with Loyle Carner and FKJ only confirms this :)

    Yussef Dayes
Born from a Jamaican father and English mother into a musical family, He showed an inclination for music since he was a baby, so his parents decided to buy him a drum kit for his fourth birthday so they could form a family band. Growing up, he was heavily influenced by his fathers taste for reggae, jazz and soul by the likes of Marvin Gaye and Aretha Franklyn and really developed a style that is clearly inspired by the sonic quality of their music (plus the man has a mean groove!) He comes from a place called The Hills of Bristol in Southeast London. He formed a band with Kamaal Williams called Yussef Kamaal which broke up shortly after releasing their debut album Black Focus.

If you like Anderson .Paak, you're gonna love Yussef Dayes.

Both of these musicians, who were fans of eachother's work, decided to get together for some jam sessions and invited only top notch musicians to the sessions.

There were no rules; there were no recipes for making the album,

"We kind of just jam out a lot of time and then click record, and then we go back and listen and see what feels good."

One example of that is the song "Kyiv," which Misch and Dayes recorded while visiting Ukraine to shoot music videos for the album.

When they asked Tom how the idea for the song game about, he said they were told 'Have a jam, we're gonna film it.' And 'Kyiv' was the outcome of that jam," he says. "It's a fully improvised piece of music that came out from having that last bit of film on the roll."

I hope you've enjoyed this glimpse into the music I listen to. I hope to bring you more posts like this. Please excuse me if they are not that frequent, but music like this is quite rare.
