Happy New Year, Open Mic Community! It's another edition of the Open Mic contest, and I'm delighted to be here to uplift your hearts. I want to express my gratitude to our recent spotlight artists @isbelhiv02 who chose this week's wonderful theme, "Light on Me." I'll be presenting a song titled 'Rolling Stones' by Lauren Daigle.
This song holds a special place in my heart as it played a significant role in my recovery, pulling me out of a hospital bed two years ago, in the same month of January, the same week. Despite being surrounded by illness I found light in the song, and kept on playing it, refusing to let sickness define me. I held onto the belief that brighter days were ahead, keeping hope of leaving the hospital sooner.
Even when my nurse doubted my readiness to leave, I told her that I was fine. On the day of my discharge, I confidently told her that she wouldn't see my face in that hospital again. I am grateful for the light that God shone through this song, guiding me through my darkest moments and instilling a hopeful certainty in my heart.
Lyrics
Out of the shadows
Bound for the gallows
A dead man walking
Till love came calling
Rise up (rise up)
Rise up (rise up)
Six feet under
I thought it was over
An answer to prayer
The voice of a Savior
Rise up (rise up)
Rise up (rise up)
All at once I came alive
This beating heart, these open eyes
The grave let go
The darkness should have known
(You're still rolling rolling, you're still rolling rolling oh)
You're still rolling stones
(You're still rolling rolling oh)
You're still rolling stones
Now that You saved me
I sing 'cause You gave me
A song of revival
I put it on vinyl
Rise up (rise up)
Rise up (rise up)
I once was blinded
But now I see it
I've heard about the power
And now I believe it
Rise up (rise up)
Rise up (rise up)
Thank you for listening
