Plight of the Hawksbill Turtle

Hawksbill Turtles are a species of Sea Turtle that are critically endangered throughout the world. I made this video to highlight some of the alarming statistics. Many divers fail to realise how endangered this species really is as often they are seen easily in marine national parks where tourists go diving. Unfortunately the ocean's few protected marine reserves harbour only a small remaining number of their population. They suffer greatly from habitat loss, illegal fishing and poaching and of course the beaches where they once laid their eggs are becoming increasingly overrun by tourism and resort development.
