    Passing is a 2021 movie written, produced and directed by Rebecca Hall. The movie is based on the novel, 'Passing' by Nella Larsen written in 1929. It captures the lives of two African-American women, Irene Redfield (Tessa Thompson) and her childhood friend, Clare (Ruth Negga).

    Irene identifies as a black-skinned woman, whose lives in Harlem with her husband and two kids. Her friend, Clara ‘passes’ as a white woman and she is married to a wealthy white man.
