Han finalizado los octavos de final de la FIFA Copa Mundial Femenina 2023 y en dónde hemos visto victorias lógicas, una gran sorpresa y encuentros parejos; selecciones como España, Japón, Australia, Países Bajos y Francia son las que fácilmente se ganaron su pasaje a una nueva fase, en tanto Suecia, gracias a la tecnología en el fútbol, eliminó a la actual campeona mundial, la selección de los Estados Unidos en la tanda de penales; eso nos deja a que hubo dos encuentros muy nivelados, como el de Inglaterra vs. Nigeria en dónde las campeonas de la Eurocopa Femenina, también desde la tanda de penales, alcanzaron su pase a cuartos de final y ahora deberán enfrentar a la única selección sudamericana en el torneo, me refiero a la selección de Colombia que eliminó a la inesperada Jamaica.

Después de la eliminación de Brasil y Argentina en la fase de grupos del Mundial, Colombia toma el obvio liderazgo al ser la única en esta fase y a pesar de estar convencido de que darían un paso más en este torneo, no esperaba que su encuentro contra Jamaica sería tan difícil; la igualdad entre ambas selecciones fue la gran característica de este encuentro que con un magistral gol por parte de la capitana de Colombia hace que la selección sudamericana siga adelante, pero para ser sinceros, con mejor suerte, la selección de Jamaica pudo anotar uno o dos goles en este encuentro, pero eso demuestra que a pesar de ser fuerte en defensa, la selección centroamericana no tiene la misma calidad en el ataque.
