Leumang is a typical of Acehness food, that is served as a iftar ramadhan meal. Interestingly, Leumang only available in large quantities in the fasting month. Whereas besides that there is no large-scale production like in the fasting month.
This time I happened to be at one of the Leumang production sites in the city of Lhokseumawe. Wak Saleh has known as the owner of this traditional food business. Now the business is continued by his son.
Leumang's request in the fasting month is greatly increased for the iftar food, as explained by one of his employees. Within a day Leumang production reaches 20 kilograms during Ramadan. Made from rice and coconut milk, Leumang is burned in a container made of bamboo wrapped in banana leaves.
Even though the Corona Virus pandemic is currently endemic in Indonesia, especially in Aceh, Wak Saleh's efforts continue to run properly. It's just that social distancing is strictly enforced. Each worker is required to wear a mask when interacting with buyers who come from various regions in Lhokseumawe City. The price of Leumang Wak Saleh is ranging from 35,000 to 50,000,
