This past October I competed in my very ever first competition for Men's Physique for the I Compete Natural Body Building Federation which is the largest global federation on the planet. It operates across many nations and it provides competitors the ability to compete across the globe.
It's something I am looking forward to doing in the coming years but I am just starting out in my competition days. Not many people upload their losses but this one is an important mile stone for me. I competed in Men's Physique due to the fact I used to be a matathon runner and my legs are not at the same size as my upper body because of it. Marathon Running creates different muscle fibers and it will take me a while to break them up and get them to the same level.
Although I wasn't technically "ready" to compete as I hadn't had any formal posing training I still wanted to give it a try. There is a common misconception that you should do everything right before getting on stage and yes that is right. But being older and wiser I also know that on stgae is an anxiety riddled experience ontop of the extreme dieting I was already doing. So I wanted to go on stage the first time the best I could currently and get a feel of the atmosphere. There is not point spending thousands of dollars on coaches and doing everything right only to choke on stage.
So this year was all about learning and as you can see, despite putting in many hours of practicing and getting tips off people I still failed to pull the poses of properly and that was because of nerves and anxiety. My shoulders failed to come out and I even missed a few ques, but that's why I wanted to do this trail.
As this was my first ever round I failed, in my next video that I will upload in a few weeks I do a bit better as my partner and friends were recording me and I was able to see how I did things, although I didn't do much better in the next round it was enough for me to take 5th place in my state. Still an amazing outcome for a first timer on stage who is riddled with nerves.
I did get feedback from judges that I needed to compete in a bigger class which is what I did when I returned two weeks later for the National Championships, which I participated in the Body Building category. I was up against quite a lot of big lads and in the final round managed to pull off a 5th in my nation. But I won't give too much away as I will be uploading that video also.
feel free to provide tips and commetary in the comments section below even criticism. Which one am I? The one one in the Red Shorts (Simon Vallone)
