I was in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, last week and, this time, I had a different experience from the others.

I discovered that, during the periods when it doesn't rain, the city is full of musical events.

Almost unintentionally, I ended up doing a very eclectic and varied Musical Tour, ranging from literally underground progressive Rock to huge shows at Capital Moto Week, one of the largest motorcycle events in Brazil.

It was so cool that the week flew by. The good part? I recorded a bit of each experience to share with you. Check it out!

Capital Moto Week - I've never seen anything like it!

The day I arrived, I had just faced a 16-hour bus trip.

I was crushed, tired, and sleepy. But my mother, who had been camping all week at the Capital Moto Week, invited us to go there.

Since her "turning point" birthday was that day, and we wanted to spend more time with her, we went. And thank goodness we did.

When she invited me I had no idea of the event's dimension. There are thousands of motorcycle clubs, about 80,000 people, circulating in a gigantic, themed space that looked more like a motorcycle city.

The main stage was wild. There we watched AMAZING shows like Marcelo Falcão's (O Rappa) and Angra's.

Right in the middle of the show, it was midnight and we celebrated my mother's birthday right there. It was awesome!

Besides the main stage, there were at least another 5 places with stages and bands throughout the event. Some motorcycle clubs are so large that they made a separate event within the event.

As if that weren't enough, you looked to one side and there were people passing by on zip lines, others jumping from bungee-jumping. There was even a Ferris wheel and globe of death.

Not surprisingly, some people camped there for almost 2 weeks, enjoying the event to the fullest.

Despite only having been there for 2 days, I can safely say that these were some of the most fun shows I've ever been to. I plan to go again next year!

Beco do Jazz - Good music outdoors

Seeing old friends is always good. I have a great childhood friend I usually visit in Brasília and who, as he is a musician (and crazy), always takes us to some cool places.

We went with him to Beco do Jazz, an event that always happens during the dry season there. The event took place near the pira in the square of the 3 powers, a very touristic place in Brasília.

The production set up an inflatable acoustic shell that made the band's sound very good to hear, even from a distance. It was an open-air event and very open. At the entrance, people ask you how much you can contribute, and you can pay any amount. I saw a guy literally coming in with a coin.

The scheme was very cool. Each group brings its own towel or sarong and sits on the ground to enjoy the show.

Once again, besides the main attraction, the audience was a show on its own.

There was an old man playing the saxophone for his family right next to us, love-struck couples laying down looking at the stars, and groups of friends getting drunk to the sound of good music.

A particularly enjoyable evening!

Zepelim - A literally underground place

It was our last day in Brasília but we wanted to enjoy it a bit more, so we went with the same couple of friends to another musical gig. We went to a progressive Rock show by the band Tropeçália in a place that was literally underground.

Due to zoning rules in Brasília, rock parties are usually farther away or hidden. This time, we arrived at a place that was a bar-snack bar on top and underneath, in the basement, a space fully equipped for shows.

The instrumental music touched me and the ones with lyrics were so peculiar they were inspiring. No wonder, the band launched an album and a book at the same time. It's worth checking out their work!

And still, we didn't get to enjoy everything
On the afternoon we arrived, we discovered that there was an event from Sesc happening in the city park that brought big names such as Zeca Baleiro and Zélia Duncan.

On the other side of the city, there was a nearly two-month-long event called "Na Praia" (On the Beach). Dozens of musicians played there too.

At the right time, Brasília is a cultural hub. I hope to return more frequently, and soon, to enjoy more.

This was my first report in this community, but I promise to bring more!

Estive na capital na semana passada e, dessa vez, tive uma experiência diferente das demais.

Descobri que, nos períodos em que não chove, a cidade fica cheia de eventos musicais.

Quase que sem querer, acabei fazendo um Tour Musical bem eclético e variado, que foi do Rock progressivo literalmente underground a shows enormes no Capital Moto Week, um dos maiores eventos de motociclismo no Brasil.

Foi tão legal que a semana passou voando. A parte boa? Eu
gravei um pedacinho de cada experiência para compartilhar com vocês. Se liga!

Capital Moto Week - Nunca vi nada igual!

No dia em que eu cheguei, tinha acabado de enfrentar uma viagem de 16h de ônibus.

Estava moído, cansado e com sono. Mas minha mãe, que já estava acampada a semana inteira no Capital Moto Week nos convidou pra ir lá.

Como a “virada” do aniversário dela era naquele dia, e queríamos passar mais tempo com ela, fomos. E ainda bem que fomos.

Quando ela me convidou eu não tinha ideia da dimensão do evento. São milhares de moto clubes, cerca de 80 mil pessoas, circulando por um espaço gigantesco, todo temático, que mais parecia uma cidade do motociclismo.

O palco principal era animal. Lá nós assistimos a shows INCRÍVEIS como o do Marcelo Falcão (O Rappa) e o do Angra.

Bem no meio do show deu meia noite e a gente comemorou o aniversário da minha mãe lá mesmo. Foi demais!

Além do palco principal, tinha pelo menos outros 5 lugares com palco e bandas pelo evento. Alguns motoclubes são tão grandes que fizeram um evento à parte dentro do evento.

Como se não bastasse, você olhava pra um lado e tinha gente passando de tirolesa, outros pulando de bungee-jump. Tinha até roda gigante e globo da morte.

Não a toa, teve gente que ficou acampada lá por quase 2 semanas, curtindo o evento ao máximo.

Apesar de só ter ido lá 2 dias, eu posso dizer seguramente que esses foram alguns dos shows mais divertidos em que já fui. Pretendo ir de novo no ano que vem!

Beco do Jazz - Música boa ao ar livre

Rever velhos amigos sempre é bom. Eu tenho um grande amigo de infância que costumo visitar em Brasília e que, como é músico (e maluco), sempre nos leva em uns lugares legais.

Fomos com ele no Beco do Jazz, um evento que sempre acontece na época da seca por lá. O evento aconteceu bem perto da pira que fica na praça dos 3 poderes, um lugar bem turístico de Brasília.

A produção montou uma concha acústica inflável que fazia o som da banda ser muito bom de se ouvir, mesmo a distância. Era um evento ao ar livre e bem aberto. Na entrada o pessoal te pergunta com quanto você pode contribuir, e você pode pagar qualquer quantia. Vi um cara entrando literalmente com uma moeda.

O esquema era bem legal. Cada grupo leva sua própria toalha ou canga e senta no chão para curtir o show.

Mais uma vez, além da atração principal, o público era um show a parte.

Tinha um senhorzinho tocando saxofone pra família bem do nosso lado, casais apaixonados deitados olhando as estrelas e grupos de amigos se embriagando ao som de boa música.

Uma noite especialmente agradável!

Zepelim - Um lugar literalmente underground

Já era o nosso último dia em Brasília mas nós queríamos aproveitar mais um pouquinho, então fomos com o mesmo casal de amigos pra um outro rolê musical. Fomos a um show de Rock progressivo da banda Tropeçália em um lugar literalmente undeground.

Por conta das normas de zoneamento em Brasília, geralmente as festas de rock são mais afastadas ou escondidas. Dessa vez, chegamos em um lugar que na parte de cima era um bar-lanchonete e embaixo, no subsolo, um espaço todo equipado para shows.

As músicas instrumentais mexeram comigo e as que tinham letra eram tão peculiares que chegavam a inspirar. Não a toa, a banda lançou um disco e um livro ao mesmo tempo. Vale a pena conferir o trampo dos caras!

E ainda não deu pra aproveitar tudo

Na tarde em que chegamos descobrimos que tava rolando um circuito do Sesc no parque da cidade que levou grandes nomes como Zeca Baleiro e Zélia Duncan.

Do outro lado da cidade, tava rolando um evento com quase 2 meses de duração chamado “Na praia”. Lá tocaram dezenas de músicos também.

Na época certa, Brasília é um polo cultural. Espero voltar com mais frequência, e logo, pra aproveitar mais.
