AFRITUNES WEEK 89: MOST POPULAR AFROBEAT:CALM DOWN BY REMA

Hello Afrobeat lovers, welcome to another week and an opportunity to vibe with and enjoy Afro-oriented music. In other words, it's a time to appreciate music that incorporates certain African elements, whether in rhythm, melody, or percussive makeup. As I present mine to you today, I also look forward to interacting with all your content and enjoying different genres of African music.

Today, I have the pleasure of bringing you an Afrobeat song that is making waves internationally. In my caption for this blog, I referred to it as the most popular Afrobeat, and that wasn't just a mere statement; it's a fact, and I'll provide you with my reasons.

The first reason comes from my personal experience. I've had the privilege to travel to many countries within Africa and beyond. In each of these countries, I've been asked on many occasions about my favorite music. My natural response is Neo-Afrobeat, given my recent attraction to the latest Afrobeat trends. The next question that follows is, "What is Afrobeat?" This is often asked by adults who are not very familiar with social media. My response usually involves playing some Afrobeat songs on my phone, allowing them to experience the sound.

Out of all the songs I play for them, the one they already recognize from the intro is Rema's song titled "Calm Down."

The second reason is that many youths from across the world have created more TikTok videos with this particular song, and they love the vibe that comes with it. Another experience I've had with the song is that, out of all the Afrobeat songs that I know, it happens to be the only one played on the radio here in Argentina where I currently am. And whenever it comes on the radio, I dance away!

Therefore, along with this post, I bring you an acoustic version of Rema's world-recognized song. I used an instrumental I developed through the Moises App.
