AFRI-TUNES WEEK 33| UNDER THE CANOPY BY FRANK EDWARDS | VOICE + GUITAR COVER

Hello awesome people! I welcome you to my blog on Afri-tunes community, a place where we share and celebrate African music. This week is the 33rd week and it is a pleasure for me to participate.

This week I bring you a very lovely and vibrant song by Frank Edwards titled UNDER THE CANOPY This song is super African in it's style and feels. Don't be deceived by it's slow paced beginning because it is a very lively song that will bring you to dance!!

It is a gospel song which testifies of the benefits of the abundance of love showered on us by God. It is also a song that shows confidence and trust in God, as such that no matter what, God has got the back of his people.

The song also means a lot to me because it reminds me of two important things.

1. It reminds me of my childhood memories. The song under the canopy dates back to my childhood days when the song was public knowledge and has no particular known composer. It I was only recently that Frank Edwards gave the song a proffesional improvisation and touch. Even till date I prefer to sing the ancient version because the way we sang it then was more interesting and funny.

2. This song also reminds me of one of my early public presentations with me guitar.

Then I had just formed a band consisting of a trumpeter, a drummer, a bassist and a backup vocalist. We rehearsed the song so many times so as to avoid mistakes.
Funny enough, while on stage, I forgot the beginning lyrics of the second verse 😂😂 Well I managed to murmur something anyways. Even up till today, after watching the video, I can't still tell what I said there😂😂.

In essence, this song brings me good memories and encourages me in the path of music.
