AND THOUGHT I HATED CLASSICAL MUSIC

I never believed a day would come when I'd say these words: "Classical music is magical." To understand why this is a big deal, let me drop a hint about my history with classical tunes, which used be unappealing to me.

Back in the day, when I had to show up for choir practice, and they brought out scores of those composers with names that sounded like tongue twisters - for instance, Schubert or Beethoven - I'd pull a "sudden illness" act and bolt. I thought it just wasn't my jam, but deep down, it was my sheer laziness. Learning a classical piece, especially by way of sightreading can be endearing for lovers of classical music, Now imagine how it would be for me, considering that I hate Algebra, hahaha. I avoid classical music like it was the plague.

Fast forward to last Saturday, and I found myself at my very first classical music concert. to be specific, the first that I ever attended because I had been invited severally in the past but... You guessed it, I bolted. well no longer this time. My buddy, a classical music aficionado and a singer himself, knew about my classical aversion.

Craftily, he roped me in by claiming it was a gig featuring young musicians and instrumentalists. I bit the bait and rushed over like there was no tomorrow.

Upon arrival, I spotted a gang of youngsters spilling out of buses and cars, clutching violins and all sorts of mysterious instruments in fancy, expensive-looking cases. My curiosity was piqued big time.

They spent what felt like an eternity setting up their gear. It started to look like a full-blown orchestra. I leaned over to my friend, seeking an explanation. He whispered, "Just chill and watch."

So, I sat back and observed. Turns out, I was at the pinnacle of Buenos Aires' classical music scene, in the presence of the Coro Polifónico, a choir celebrating its 50th birthday. Dignitaries, including the local mayor, were there in full force.

Then, the choir director dropped a bombshell - they were about to perform Mozart's THE GREAT MASS.

I quickly looked it up and then I knew that Mozart's "Great Mass in C Minor" is like a captivating novel with missing chapters, leaving you yearning for the whole story. It's a masterful, unfinished composition that explores different parts of the Mass, showcasing Mozart's brilliance and leaving listeners hungry for more musical delight.

When they started playing the first song, I felt this incredible rush of happiness. It was my first time at a real classical music concert, and it was mind-blowing. I could hear every instrument, from the big double bass to the tiny violins, and even the drums and cymbals. It was like heaven. At that moment I knew I had been missing out on musical delight, all those times I skipped any classical song that came up in my shuffled playlist.

Surely, I love classical music, I always have. I find Its arrangement, orderliness, discipline and harmony, super motivating. But, whether or not I will start learning to play or sing classical songs, we will have to find out, hahahaha.

P.S. I was so caught up in the moment that I could only record a short part of it to keep as a memory and share with you all. This part of the piece is titled Kyrie.
