First Time Using the Video Feature

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting in a while. For the last few months I’ve been super busy and stressed out looking for full-time work ever since my daughter’s been in school and I found out my grandma is coming back home to live in the U.S, so now we’re eventually going to have to relocate. I’ve only been able to find freelance jobs lately, but nothing permanent, so, it’s been a stressful couple of months,.

I had a hard time converting my HIVE into Bitcoin or US dollars. Blocktrades was the only way I knew how, and then that went away and I had trouble finding out how to convert it.
So, for a little while, I became kind of discouraged from posting because of this.

A Fun fact I learned yesterday: I learned that Binance supports HIVE, but Binance US doesn’t. Eventually I did find that Changelly is a great app for converting HIVE into Bitcoin or Ethereum, and you can use it in many countries. If you have a different favorite way of converting HIVE into Bitcoin or USD, feel free to let me know in the comments - I’d really like to hear how other people do it.

I went to make a post the other day asking for advice on converting and didn’t get much engagement, but I did discover that a new feature has been released on the platform since I’ve been away: videos.

I think it’s pretty huge that we can now upload videos onto Hive -- and I realize that people used 3Speak before --- but I really like how it’s a more seamless experience now; we don’t have to go through a separate dApp to upload videos.

I am someone who expresses myself much better through writing, and I’m not always great at articulating my thoughts into words. However, I recently started doing user-generated content for clients on Upwork, and voice-over too -- and I’ve realized it’s something I really need to work on. And if you think I’m doing an okay job, that’s because I wrote out what I wanted to say for this blog ahead of time and now I’m reading it off a teleprompter. So, I do think this video feature will help me in that regard.

Another benefit of the video feature is that it will help us get to know the community better. We’ll be able to see the face and hear the voice behind the blog posts. We can gauge their tone and subtle mannerisms better which will build better connection and engagement among the platform.

Videos have been incredibly popular with most social media platforms these days, such as Instagram and TikTok and Youtube. So, I’m glad HIVE is jumping on the bandwagon. Now, on HIVE, we can create video content in a decentralized manner and earn the rewards directly. I think the video feature will benefit blog content such as DIY and cooking posts, where videos can really enhance the content. So, with that being said, I’m excited to see the type of content people are able to create now that the video feature is here.
