Few hours ago, I made a post on Developing a Business Mindset. In that post, I said that having a business mindset refers to the recommended ways to think (thinking that leads to action) that help us build, develop, grow or maintain businesses. I also mentioned that having a business mindset is very vital for our businesses to grow. I spoke about 5 characteristics or features involved in Developing a Business Mindset. These features are:
- Strategic Thinking: It involves knowing the right time to act, the right actions to take, and the right place to take these actions under the right circumstances.
- Taking Risks: Having a business mindset involves being strategic in the risk(s) you plan to take. These risks should be calculated, and you shouldn't impulsively jump into investing in a business without doing due research and calculations.
- Being Original, Unique and Creative: Many businesses offer similar services, hence, you need to make yours different and stand out from others.
- Setting goals: It is important to set realistic short-term and long-term goals, as they'll motivate us to achieve our aim.
- Learning from Past Failure: When we make mistakes we shouldn't relent or give up, instead we should learn from our mistakes or failure and give out our best.
Still focusing on the theme of Developing a Business Mindset, I took a different approach in this video.
In the video, I went further to discuss the barriers or challenges that can prevent us from developing a Business Mindset. And I also gave some insights and suggestions on how to overcome these challenges.
Here are the challenges I spoke about and how to overcome them.
- Limited Resources: Having adequate resources is vital in building, growing and sustaining businesses. When we are lacking in resources (financial, technical and professional resources), it hinders us from our goal.
- To overcome this challenge we can try to build professional relationships/network and leverage on them while we grow; we can also seek for fund as well.
- Fear of Failure: Being afraid of failure isn't so bad, but if it prevents us from moving towards our goal, then it becomes a big barrier.
- To overcome this challenge, we can begin by accomplishing little goals, to make us more confident; then we can also work on our mistakes, and avoid future occurrences.
- Lack of Clarity: When we lose touch of our goals, or they aren't clear to us.
- It is important to make more research so that we understand our goals and purpose and it becomes clearer to us.
