Semana #152 Música Tradicional, en la que me toca representar a mi país Venezuela, de la que conozco y amo todas nuestras tradiciones, tanto musicales, como del resto de las artes.

Hello dear friends of the Hive Open Mic community!
Week #152 Traditional Music, in which it is my turn to represent my country Venezuela, of which I know and love all our traditions, both musical and in the rest of the arts.

El tema escogido para esta semana, “El Alcaraván”, de nuestro querido Simón Díaz, también conocido como el tío Simón, Cantautor, compositor y recopilador de nuestra música tradicional venezolana y en especial la música del llano venezolano, a la que le dedicó un espacio especial a la tonada.

The theme chosen for this week, "El Alcaraván", by our beloved Simón Díaz, also known as Uncle Simón, singer-songwriter, composer and compiler of our traditional Venezuelan music and especially the music of the Venezuelan plains, to which he dedicated a special space to the "tonada".

En cuanto al trabajo vocal, se trata de un arreglo a 8 voces mixtas elaborado por el maestro Cesar Alejandro Carrillo, que he adaptado a cuatro voces oscuras para esta presentación.

As for the vocal work, it is an arrangement for 8 mixed voices elaborated by maestro Cesar Alejandro Carrillo, which I have adapted to four dark voices for this presentation.

El perico en el conuco
la totuma en el corral
y hasta el gallo carraspea
cuando pasa un animal

Allá en mi pueblo cuando pasa un alcaraván,
se asustan las muchachas por el beso del morichal
el perro de la casa se levanta y sale pa´llá
pa´llá pa´fuera porque no le gusta pelear

Que fuiste tú, que si yo, que no, que si tú
te vieron que llevabas cafecito al morichal
y que Pedro, en los maizales,
tus espigas reventaba

Y esa noche la luna se puso bonita, clarita
que hasta Pedro se asusta
si pasa algún alcaraván

and even the cock croaks
when an animal passes by
There in my village when a scarecrow passes by,
the girls are frightened by the morichal's kiss
the dog of the house gets up and goes pa'llá
pa'llá pa'llá pa'fuera porque no le gusta pelear
That it was you, that it was me, that it wasn't, that it was you
they saw you carrying coffee to the morichal
and that Pedro, in the cornfields,
your ears of corn were bursting
And that night the moon became so beautiful, so clear
that even Pedro gets scared
if a scarecrow passes by
The parakeet in the conuco

and even the rooster croaks
when an animal passes by.
