    About :

Last week unfortunately I was unable to publish an entry for the Afritunes weekly musical event that I regularly participate in. The Afritunes events provide a platform for Hivian who are music lovers to showcase their talents. As someone who appreciates good music, this events allow me to analyze and reflect on new music and old songs that remains evergreen.

For the 92nd week of Afritunes events, I decided to publish my entry early in the week to ensure I do not miss contributing again. The song I have chose to sing is the worship song “Casting Crowns” beautifully composed and performed by Nathaniel Bassey. Nathaniel.

Nathaniel Bassey is one of the most talented gospel artists to come out of Nigeria in recent years. His music has a way of ushering listeners into the very presence of God. "Casting Crowns" is no exception with its mellow yet lush instrumentation and Nathaniel's smooth, soothing vocals.

As I listened to the song this week and pondered the lyrics, I felt truly moved thinking about the act of laying down our crowns and accomplishments before Christ's feet. The song talks about that poignant act of honor, worship, and submission to our King. I thought about the things that I personally put my identity and security in - things like career achievements, wealth, reputation, skill or talent. But this song reminded me the importance of laying all that aside to simply worship the One who gave me breath and who alone is worthy.

I felt challenged to walk in deeper humility, considering others before myself. I also felt spiritually renewed, visualizing placing everything I live for back at the feet of Jesus. Practicing this song created space to surrender areas where pride can subtly take root. I'm now more excited than ever to perform it at this week's Afritunes and exalt the name of the One before whom all crowns belong. My hope is that it impacts others to freely cast their crowns before the throne too.
