Calisthenics + Weights - First time this worked out - I do 14 reps of Bench Press with 40kg [ESP|ENG]
Hello how are you my people from #hive and #swc I hope you are very well. This time I will share with you something totally new for me, since I was focused on only training with calisthenics since I started. But hey, you should never say no to anything that is beneficial to you.
I was somewhat surprised by the transfer of strength from one discipline to another, I did not think that on my first day trying Bench Press I would do 15 repetitions with 40kg, really, super crazy. So doing calculations like this as my own, I think I can lift 1RM at least 70 or 80kg, but this will be left for another post.
Here I will only show you what the routine of the day was, I was with several of the guys from my team trying this hybrid training, I hope you like the routine.
Calisthenics and Gym
I think as I progress, I will notice that there are many benefits to combining calisthenics and gym. As you know, calisthenics is a very complete practice that allows you to work almost all the muscles in the body. One interesting thing about all this is that almost all gym exercises with weights can be replicated using your own body weight. However, both calisthenics and gym training have their strengths and weaknesses. That is why I believe that combining both disciplines will simply generate a plus for us.
The positive points of calisthenics are greater body control, very good acquisition of relative strength, and a time under tension in the transitions of the exercises that gives us great muscle development and strengthening of tendons. Negative point, according to some media, leg training but, being a sport that can be done and use objects around us, we have many ways to solve this.
The positive points of weight training is that it is super easy to do a progressive overload compared to calisthenics, since we only have to add more weight to the bar. It is also relatively easy to use and isolate the desired muscles using machines, weights, or pulleys. The negative points are the lack of body coordination regarding calisthenics and the lack of creativity in the exercises, that is, monotony.
One way to combine calisthenics with a gym routine is with free weight programs. The use of dumbbells and bars offers an obvious progression to work with the own body. They will allow you to perform exercises with a greater range of motion, as is the case with gym machines. It is simply knowing how to combine both disciplines in the best way, so look for coaches who are truly trained for this task.

Without more to add, I hope you liked the post and the routine too. It remains to remember that before each training session it is essential to warm up for at least 20 minutes, since this way we will perform even more in each training session. See you in a next post.
