Hive Open Mic Week 171 - Kenangan (Original) by Indonesia Bersatu

Hello, brothers and sisters at Hive Open Mic. We are Indonesia Bersatu, a Punk Rock band from Medan, Indonesia. Today we only performed with two band members, because our vocalist was still sick and our drummer was still working. So, this week's #OpenMic event has entered its 171st week, with the Divorce / Separation theme chosen by our friend @merit.ahama.

Talking about Divorce / Separation, surely that was a pretty hard moment to feel. If you are parents, and decide to divorce, it will have an impact on your children. Children will experience drastic changes when their parents divorce. It will provide emotional challenges to deal with, and the event will be imprinted in their lives. Not only in cases of divorce, when children are separated from their parents, be it by death, or something else, it will also be painful.

Do you know the worst thing that a parent's separation or divorce can do to their children? I think it's an escape. It would be great if their children's escape would lead to something positive, but most of them would become addicted to drugs, alcohol, or destructive pleasures. In the street punk community, many broken-home teenagers joined the street punk community as an escape. They would get drunk on alcohol and do drugs, not knowing what punk meant. We call it Poser. I wrote this song on the same day with standard chords. This song tells about the feelings of a teenager who feels lost after facing the divorce of his parents. The tears and grief she felt left her confused, scared and uncertain about the future. The teenager finds it hard to accept the fact that his family is no longer what it used to be and he has to deal with a situation he doesn't want.
