    English Version

Hello, amazing nature family, welcome to my first post in the community. Today I want to show you a series of images of a green grasshopper that I took while visiting a great friend, who collects cacti and succulents in a little town called "Modesto Reyes" in Ciego de Avila.

This insect caught my attention because of its greenish camouflage appearance, as if it were just another leaf, among the plants in the garden 🪴, very easy to go unnoticed by many of its enemies such as birds, praying mantis, spiders and reptiles.

According to the information I could find in Google, I observed that they are native to my country 🇨🇺, among others, such as the United States in the part of Florida and the Bahamas. Individuals from Cuba tend to grow between 6 and 8 cm in average length and in several places they are kept as pets.

Its name is Stilpnochlora couloniana also known as Giant Katydid, a relative of crickets. It feeds exclusively on leaves, e.g. oak, oak and apple trees.

According to what I read, the behavior of this grasshopper in the photos seems to be male, since he chose to stay still and not to fly for the moment. Studies say that the female is usually less docile and flies away at the slightest disturbance. And I am almost confident that it was not more than 6 cm long.
