“Punktronic Disco Dirge (A Pirate Radio Hour)” by Richard F. Yates

[EDITOR'S NOTE: This show was originally posted to a different platform, but that site "lost" the audio file and the cover art for the show. For the sake of folks getting to listen to this program, I'm re-uploading it at 3Speak as a video (with a still image, so basically it's still audio only...) I'm declining payouts because it's not new, but I think the songs on here are still good! So give it a listen if you want to hear something odd and interesting! ---RFY]

Hey Kiddies! Today we’re back with a naughty bit of something. This time the Holy Fool has been teleported to an orbiting, sub-atomic, pirate radio satellite, along with his robot buddy, Titanium Ed, and they’re playing music for you folks and talking about whatever passes for thoughts in weird heads like theirs. WARNING!!! There is some crude language, unpleasant noises, and at least one really long song with almost no words in it, so if you aren’t feeling particularly adventurous today, you might want to skip this show and go listen to something more USER FRIENDLY. You can come back tomorrow night, after you’ve eaten a couple of special brownies and drank a quart of rum & Coke… We don’t gives no fucks on the Punktronic Sub-Atomic Pirate Orbital Satellite, the PSAPOS!, and we hope our music selections reflect that fact!

Got it? Good! If you’re still in, this first episode lasts about an hour and 4 minutes… See how long you can last before you get bored (or offended or deafened or discomforted) and click away! (When Richard F. Yates used to DJ at a dank and gloomy bar in Kelso, Washington, he used to have a contest with the other DJ to see whose songs would chase away the most customers… I can’t recall who wwo, but you should get the point, regardless…)

    Begin transmission~~~

    Playlist:

[Mumbling from the DJ while Titanium Ed throws things at the microphone…]

Les Rythmes Digitales – “Soft Machine” from Darkdancer (1999)
David Bowie – “Panic in Detroit” from Aladdin Sane (1973)

[Jabber and/or blabber---it’s for the courts to decide at this point.]

Oingo Boingo – “Stay” from Dead Man’s Party (1985)
Tranquility Bass – “They Come in Peace” from The Trip Hop Test Part One (1994)
Syd Barrett – “Octopus” from The Madcap Laughs (1970)
Eminem feat. Juice WRLD – “Godzilla” from Music to Be Murdered By (2020)

[DJ airs his grievances and stomach pains, then Titanium Ed accidentally hits the stop button with a Frisbee…]

The Sniveling Shits – “Terminal Stupid” from Punk: Lost and Found (1996)
The Jimmies – “Don’t Change” from The Jimmies and The Weaklings (1996)
Grimes – “My Name is Dark (Art Mix)” from Miss Anthropocene (2020)
Implant feat. Front 242 – “The Creature (David Carretta Mix)” from Audio Blender (2006)
Groovie Ghoulies – “Doin’ Fine” from Go! Stories (2002)

[Feeble sign-of from the DJ. Titanium Ed passes out in corner. Ambulance refuses to come because of how frequently we call them but never pay the bill…]

Thanks for tuning in! All the music on here has been played in a pirate fashion, but it is included for educational / appreciation purposes only! If you LIKE any of these tunes, I recommend BUYING them (not streaming them from some platform that makes you pay a monthly fee), especially the ones from bands / artists who are still ALIVE and can actually do something with the money!!! Later!!!
