Retomando esta sección de “Actualidad Ajedrecística”, y que mejor manera de hacerlo que hablando del Torneo de Candidatos, que se celebra actualmente en la capital de España, es decir, Madrid. El torneo más importante del año sin lugar a dudas, porque de allí saldrá el retador de Magnus Carlsen, para disputar el título mundial de ajedrez del año 2023. ¿Será que veremos una revancha entre Nepomniachtchi y Carlsen?

¿Quiénes participan en el torneo de candidatos? Y ¿Por qué?

La FIDE reúne a 8 aspirantes a retar al actual campeón mundial GM Magnus Carlsen, en un torneo llamado el torneo de candidatos, que se celebra actualmente y como lo pudiste apreciar en el recurso audiovisual hoy se cumplió la primera fase del mismo, con la culminación de la ronda 7. En cuanto a las interrogantes planteadas al inicio de este tópico, tenemos que uno de los cupos esta reservado para el perdedor del match por el título mundial más reciente, es allí donde el GM Ian Nepomniachtchi se gana este cupo:

Who participates in the candidate tournament? And why?

FIDE brings together 8 aspirants to challenge the current world champion GM Magnus Carlsen, in a tournament called the tournament of candidates, which is currently held and as you could see in the audiovisual resource today the first phase of the same was fulfilled, with the completion of round 7. As for the questions raised at the beginning of this topic, we have that one of the places is reserved for the loser of the match for the most recent world title, where GM Ian Nepomniachtchi earns this place:

Otros dos puestos del torneo de candidatos fueron reservados para el ganador y el segundo lugar de uno de los torneos más agresivos y grandes del mundo, nada más y nada menos que el GRAN SUIZO FIDE, en ese sentido fue acá donde los grande maestros Alireza Firouzja y Fabiano Caruana se ganaron el cupo:

Otro de los eventos que forma parte del ciclo del campeonato del mundo es el FIDE GRAND PRIX, que engloba tres torneos, de los cuales los dos mejores obtienen el cupo para el torneo de candidatos, es allí donde tenemos a los aspirantes GM Hikaru Nakamura y GM Richard Rapport, de este último la fotografía que encontré es del año 2012, actualmente luce un estilo diferente.

Hasta el momento tenemos claro, las razones de la FIDE para elegir a estos cinco aspirantes. Por otro lado la copa del mundo de la FIDE debería proporcionar dos aspirantes más, en efecto uno de ellos está presente como lo es el GM Jan-Krzysztof Duda, quien quedó campeón de la misma dejando en el camino al mismísimo Magnus Carlsen:

So far we are clear, FIDE's reasons for choosing these five contenders. On the other hand, the FIDE World Cup should provide two more contenders, in fact one of them is present as is the GM Jan-Krzysztof Duda, who became champion of the same leaving in the way the very Magnus Carlsen:

Por su parte el segundo aspirante era GM Sergey Karjakin, pero este fue suspendido por la FIDE, un hecho bastante polémico que prefiero no tratar en este post. El punto fue que en su lugar la FIDE elige al número de 01 de China el GM Ding Liren , basado en el criterio de ser el jugador con mayor elo FIDE (según listado mayo de 2022):

The second contender was GM Sergey Karjakin, but he was suspended by FIDE, a rather controversial fact that I prefer not to deal with in this post. The point was that instead FIDE chooses the number 01 of China GM Ding Liren , based on the criterion of being the player with the highest FIDE elo (as listed May 2022):

Finalmente, ya para cerrar la lista de los aspirantes la FIDE elige al GM Teimour Radjabov, dado que este por motivos de la pandemia COVID -19 no quiso participar de la edición anterior, pese a que había clasificado.

Finally, to close the list of aspirants, FIDE chooses GM Teimour Radjabov, since he did not want to participate in the previous edition due to the COVID -19 pandemic, even though he had qualified.
