For this week's Open Mic I present a Bolero-Son by Cuban composer Miguel Matamoros (Santiago de Cuba, May 8, 1894 - ibidem, April 15, 1971). The story goes that maestro Miguel was on tour with his famous Trio Matamoros and after one of his performances he went to his room in the hotel where he was staying, he could not sleep because in one of the adjoining rooms he heard the crying of a lady, he decided to ask Doña Luz Sardaña, who was the hostel where he was staying, what happened and she told him that it was a woman who was suffering from the abandonment of her lover. That is how Matamoros composed Lagrimas Negras, as a tribute to that unfortunate lady.
Today I bring you my instrumental version of this song.
I hope you enjoy it. With love.
Rodnell.
