Carlie and I attempted to walk to Watersmeet, about a mile and three quarters from where we stayed in Lynmouth that day. We followed the water (it's not a river as such), which featured heavily in the 1952 Lynmouth Disaster when around 90 million tons of rain fell on North Devon and West Somerset on that day and effectively destroyed the village killing 34 people in total.
Sadly, Charlie and I never made it; we both got too worn out, especially when we would have to walk back again.
