Anna Magdalena's notebook from 1725 is a little book that Bach gives to his young wife Anna Magdalena, a singer whom he had married a second time in 1721.

The compositions in this notebook are written mostly by strangers, although some of them have been identified as Francois Couperín, Johan Adolph Hasse and the organist of the Dresden Cathedral, Cristian Petzold, who composed minuets 4 and 5 of the pages 16 and 18, perhaps the best known and most popular pieces of the Notebook of Anna Magdalena.

This “Notenbüchein” * was intended for the personal use of his student and singer Anna Magdalena, but also for the musical education of children.
