Come As You Are - Acustic Improvisation Version

I started listening to Nirvana in the late 90's, Kurt Cobain sadly had passed away and I was sad to listen to the albums knowing he was gone. Maybe that's why Nirvana's songs are more melancholy for me. But the music they created inspired me to learn the guitar on my own, much like Cobain himself did.

My goal has always been to be able to play Nirvana songs and somehow help revive Kurt by playing his music. Come as you are is among the most representative songs of the band, perhaps the most representative after Smells Like Teen Spirit, taken from the 1991 album Nevermind, and the lyrics incite people to be more real rather than ugly copies of themselves. A theme that today is even more marked by the bad use of social media, transforming millions of girls and boys into mindless mannequins, looking for consensus.

In the video an acoustic version with some mistakes here and there, I haven't played it for years and emotion and memories prevailed a bit. But this version is real, I could have recorded a perfect one, but it would have been just another soulless imitation.

Ho iniziato ad ascoltare i Nirvana alla fine degli anni '90, Kurt Cobain purtroppo era morto e mi è dispiaciuto ascoltare gli album sapendo che lui non ci fosse più. Forse per questo motivo le canzoni dei Nirvana sono più malinconiche per me. Ma la musica che hanno creato mi ha stimolato ad imparare in modo autonomo a suonare la chitarra, un po' come ha fatto lo stesso Cobain.

Il mio obiettivo è sempre stato poter suonare le canzoni dei Nirvana e in qualche modo contribuire a far rivivere Kurt suonando la sua musica. Come as you are è tra le canzoni più rappresentative della band, forse la più rappresentativa dopo Smells Like Teen Spirit, tratto dall'album Nevermind del 1991, ed il testo incita le persone ad essere più reali piuttosto che brutte copie di se stesse. Un tema che oggi è ancora più marcato dal pessimo utilizzo dei social media, trasformando milioni di ragazze e ragazzi in manichini senza cervello, in cerca di consensi.

Nel video una versione acustica con qualche errore qua e là, sono anni che non la suono ed un po' ha prevalso l'emozione ed i ricordi. Questa versione però è reale, avrei potuto registrarne una perfetta, ma sarebbe stata solo un'altra imitazione senz'anima.
