San Mateo le dicen según cronistas , historiadores y Políticos la “Cuna del libertador”, y fue su fundación el 30 de noviembre de 1620, aunque otros dicen que 1960, una de sus calles principales es la Calle Colombia, la cual conduce al monumento de la conocida “Nuestra Señora de la Virgen de Belén” , quien es la patrona de Aragua (claro para los que creen , yo no tengo patrón, trabajo por mi cuenta jejejeje ), La Virgen apareció en San Mateo en 1709. La blanca efigie de Belén, soportada por la media luna, resalta sobre su pedestal, decorado con plantas ornamentales.
