The Jade Relic [No Commentary Gameplay]

Today, we are going back into the Mexiverse. We continue are quest for the relics to stop Salvador. This is Guacamlee 2.

I love how the style of the animation has been refined and the light effects have been tone down a little bit to make it easier on the eyes. We arrived to the first location to find the Jade Relic.

The temple still has some elements for the learning curve of the game. An important part of Metroidvania games is showing you how to use the basic side of abilities. The rest is up to the player and the skills. I gotta say that playing on a keyboard is clunky at best.

Here we face our first boss "El Niño". This magician has chickens as assistants. The chicken theme is big on these games. The battle was very interesting. It is another level up from the previous game. That makes the whole experience feel more creative even when it is a difficulty spike from the start. But again, we have the same dynamics of the whole temple thrown into a conclusive battle.

We got the relic since the one the enemy got was a decoy. But we have also met a weird Chicken Priest that gives us the power to transform into a chicken. That one will help us get into small spaces, but as you can see the powers of the transformation are more interesting in this game than in the previous one. And they will only get better.

Well, that all for now. One relic, two more to go!

La Reliquia de Jade

Volvemos al Mexiverso. Hoy continuamos nuestra odisea para conseguir las reliquias y detener a Salvador. Esto es Guacamelee 2.

Tengo que decir que me encanta como se ha refinado la animación en esta nueva entrega. Los efectos luminosos se han cambiado para no ser tan duros con la vista. Aquí llegamos al lugar para conseguir la primera reliquia, el Templo de Jade.

Aquí siguen apareciendo elementos para ayudar nuestra curva de aprendizaje en el juego. Este es un elemento importante para ente género. En los Metroidvania, las primeras partes siempre están llenas de estas áreas donde se explican los usos básicos de las habilidades. El resto depende de nuestra propia intuición. Debo decir que jugar con un teclado es una limitación.

Aquí nos enfrentamos a nuestro primer jefe, "El Niño". Este mago tiene pollos de asistentes. El tema de los pollos vuelve. La pelea estuvo interesante. Esto aspecto que se ha mejorado desde el juego pasado. Esto hace que la experiencia se sienta más creativa aunque la dificultad de las peleas se haya subido. De nuevo, tenemos que usar todas las mecánicas que hemos aprendido en el templo para ganar.

Al final, conseguimos la reliquia y el enemigo se llevó una réplica. También conocimos a un tipo de Pollo Cura que nos dio el poder de transformarnos en un pollo. Ahora podemos entrar en lugares pequeños, pero como pudieron ver estos poderes del pollo tienen más cosas que mostrar en esta ocasión. Estoy seguro que se van a poner mejores.

Eso es todo por ahora. ¡Una reliquia en la bolsa, faltan dos!
