Nature is fractal, everything in it is endlessly repeated over and over again, albeit on different scales.

As we are part of nature, we are also fractals and discovering these mysteries is the very essence of life.

In this design I unite fractals with trees, a clear manifestation of them and the human being as the centre.

Design process

The design is made with three images and in 26 layers.

First I created a layer with colour to place the fractal image on it, which I duplicated several times and in the middle of them I flipped them horizontally to generate symmetry.

I used the photocopy filter to assimilate the fractal to a drawing and with the fusions of darken and multiply I merged them with the background. The same with the next two layers in the opposite position.

Then on the other fractal layers use different blends like soft light, focal light and darken.

In the middle of these layers I placed the forest image in three layers, with merges lighten, focus light and darken.

Then I put the man's face in two layers with strong light and colour fusions. On another two layers I placed only the eyes and part of the nose with blending lighten and soft light with a diffuse glow filter.

On the man's face I put again the image, or rather pieces of the image of the forest, in a position where the branches are coming out of his face in four different directions with a darkening filter.

Finally one more layer of the fractal with overlay blending to enhance all the colours.

The animation is completely done in After Effects, working the opacity of each layer and adding lights in the form of clouds for a better contrast.

La naturaleza es fractal, todo en ella se repite sin cesar una y otra vez, aunque en diferentes escalas.

Como somos parte de la naturaleza, nosotros también somos fractales y descubrir esos misterios es la esencia misma de la vida.

En este diseño uno los fractales con los árboles, manifestación clara de los mismos y al ser humano como centro.

Proceso del diseño

El diseño esta realizado con tres imágenes y en 26 capas.

Primero cree una capa con color para sobre ella colocar la imagen del fractal, la cual la duplique varias veces y en la mitad de ellas las volteé horizontalmente para generar simetría.

Utilice el filtro de fotocopia para asimilar el fractal a un dibujo y con las fusiones de oscurecer y multiplicar las fusione con el fondo. Lo mismo con las siguientes dos capas en la posición contraria.

Luego en las demás capas de fractales use distintas fusiones como luz suave, luz focal y oscurecer.

En medio de esas capas coloqué la imagen del bosque en tres capas, con fusiones aclarar, luz focal y oscurecer.

Luego puse el rostro del hombre en dos capas con fusiones luz fuerte y color. En otras dos capas puse solamente los ojos y parte de la nariz con fusión aclarar y luz suave con filtro de resplandor difuso.

Sobre el rostro del hombre puse nuevamente la imagen, más bien trozos de la imagen del boque, en posición como que las ramas salen de su rostro en cuatro direcciones distintas con filtro de oscurecer.

Finalmente, una capa más del fractal con fusión de superponer para realzar todos los colores.

La animación está realizada completamente en After Effects, trabajando la opacidad de cada capa y agregando luces en forma de nubes para un mejor contraste.
