Hand hygiene is the cheapest and most effective technique to prevent infection. Most of the infections are spread through our hands and most of the infections are spread in special healthcare facilities. There are infected patients in the hospital or healthcare facility and if the caregiver does not clean his hands properly, then within seconds he can spread the infection of one infected patient to another healthy patient and give infection to the healthy patient too. Therefore, hand hygiene has to be done to prevent cross infection.
It is true that managing time is the most challenging task for nursing staff or any healthcare worker in a healthcare facility. Due to less manpower in healthcare facilities, doing hand hygiene becomes very challenging. According to the World Health Organization, there are seven steps to do hand hygiene and there are 5 components where we should make hand hygiene compulsory. At the same time, the healthcare facility should monitor hand hygiene so that data can be obtained and we can take corrective and preventive action.
