Good evening, back to back. I'm doing another audio podcast because I was going to write a whole bunch, but I figured, you know what, writing, you guys reading my stuff could be a little boring, maybe. So let me bore you with my voice. And I just, I want to test out these microphones. I just, I love holding these little microphones pretending I'm a professional. Content creator. I'm going to be professional now as I sip my coffee. Mmm, that's tasty coffee. And we're going to have a little discussion, guys. I hope you don't mind. And it's late at night. I'm sitting in the truck in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Let me tell you, you have not lived until you've come to Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. And today, I got to poke around, and there was... A few people making some snaps today that got me thinking, the scammers are out in full force again, apparently. And what was concerning is that these farms, these content farms, I don't even know what, these accounts, all funneled hive into an account. they seem to be cashing out. Now, you know, they're not making, you know, millions of dollars here. And look, I'm not going to say that, you know, because I just made this post a couple of weeks ago, or last week, actually, that said, you know, we need to, like, start upvoting more people. And I still stand by that. I think it's very important that we, that will make people feel valued, and they'll keep coming back and adding value to the chain. The problem, though, I have, well, not that I have, but I think that the chain has, is that sometimes we're upvoting people out of the goodness of our hearts, but these people are just bad actors. They're not here to add value to hive, they're here to drain value from hive. And, you know, I guess, you know, all of the hive watchers and all these downvote accounts, they kind of combat this. a bit, sometimes I think they go after the wrong people, but these are the type of accounts that should be looked at and should be, there should be some repercussions for people that are just taking, taking, taking, and not adding value. So it got me thinking, like, how do you get around this? And I remember, this is going back years, you know, three, three, four years ago, I was doing the podcast with Taskmaster, and we had block trades on the show. And he mentioned that they were working on some type of new reputation system. Because the way the reputation system works now, a lot of people just, they don't really like it. They don't really view it as a metric that, you know, kind of, you know, determines if someone's adding value to the blockchain. Now, recently, this K.E metric or K .E ratio. has been a pretty good indicator. Maybe that's something that should incorporate more into if, you know, before you start upvoting, people take a look at their KE ratio. Now, there's a caveat to this because no reputation system is perfect. Because, for example, I think, personally, I've added value to hive. Maybe I haven't, maybe I have. But generally, I've been here pretty much since day one. I've, you know, I've done, I've, blood, sweat, and tears into this blockchain. I've built businesses on this blockchain. I've brought my community over, my online marketing community over. I've been to seminars, I've spoke at seminars. I've put my all into this place. That being said, over the past couple of years, I've powered down a lot of the hive. Life happened. I needed the funds. So my K-E ratio is not sub... 1.0. It's actually like 4.41 or something right now as I'm doing this recording. So someone could look at that and go, oh, this guy's just taking from the blockchain. So this is where I think that the KE ratio, while on paper it makes a lot of sense, there's a lot of factors that don't determine, that won't make that number 100% legit when it comes to is someone adding value or not. But I think there has to be some. type of new reputation score, some type of reputation system that you can snuff out the scammers and the people that take value from this chain, super easy. Because someone might have a reputation of 70, and you're sitting there going, oh, this is someone who adds a lot of value, okay, but are they really, right? Are they really? Does that 70 rep score give you confidence that this person is adding value? Does a KE ratio of over 10 tell you someone's taking from it? I think it's a combination of both. So, I don't know, again, look, I'm... I'm a talking head, okay? That's what I am on Hive. I'm not a developer. I'm most definitely not a thought leader here. I'm just a guy, okay? I'm just a guy sitting in the back of a semi-truck right now recording this audio. I'm going to put it up on ThreeSpeak, and I would love to hear your guys's feedback, because I don't have the solution. Like I said, I'm not a tech guy, I'm just a talking head, I'm just a guy who thinks things and... comments and I'm allowed to comment here on chain, which is awesome. But yeah, what do you guys think? Well, what do you think is like, do we need a brand new reputation scoring system? Do we combine the rep that we have now with a KE ratio? Is there some new thing that some of these front ends could work on? Because, you know, they're getting good, man. I mean, the scammers are getting pretty good. A few of us were talking back and forth today on snaps, and that's what we noticed. We said, like, they're sneaky. They're out there, and they'll engage with you, and they'll, they'll actually form proper sentences where they're not, like, total AI bots. But they're getting, they're getting really good. That being said, if you do your homework, you can, you can definitely snuff them out. So, I don't know, just thoughts, thoughts on a Monday night. in the back of a truck talking on a tiny little microphone in my hand. I would love to hear your guys's thoughts. What do we do? Do we need a brand new reputation system? Do we combine the rep score that we got now with the KE ratio, combination of something like that? Like, what do you guys think would be a better, more practical way to handle, you know, the abuse that goes on there? while still making upboats great again. Because I think that if you're upvoting more people and they're smiling and happy and feeling valued, they will stay here. Hive has a big problem with attrition. Lots of people come and they're driven off or they just disappear because they don't feel valued. So this is a problem. This is something we can, and I think we have the power to fix that now with our own actions. As for the reputation, the KE ratio, the new thing or whatever, I don't know, but right now, what we can do is keep supporting people and just, you know, kind of keep our eyes and our ears to the street to snuff out these bad actors. Anyways, what do you guys think? Let me know. I appreciate all your comments, and, yeah, I look forward to reading it. Have a good night.

Comments

@videoaddiction: It seems we might need a fresh approach to truly reflect the contributions of everyone in the community.

@jfang003: I don't think there is anything that is perfect. Let's see if the K/E ratio helps out or what the new system they plan to make.

@yeckingo1: I don't think the K/E ratio is a good metric. Nobody wants to buy shares of a company they can't sell.

@hatdogsensei: I think the current metric to measure the reputation can be more improve

@tortangkahoy: Revamping the current reputation scoring system is something I will look forward to
